West End - Coal Harbour Community Policing Centre

This is an excellent Community Policing Centre! They are very helpful and very thoughtful bunch of people. They helped us on reporting a stolen bike case and also on how to protect our bikes with Garage529 project. They follow up the cases and offer any help they can. Thanks to them!

I am writing this review on behalf of my father’s recent experience here. On January 20th I had lost his wallet in the parking lot of Mt. Seymour. Luckily, the next day the kind woman who had found it decided to take this wallet and turn it in to the Coal Harbour Community Policing Centre. Afterwards, by simply googling the name on the identification within the wallet, this woman was able to contact us and inform us that she had found the lost wallet, and where it could be collected. Upon my father’s arrival to claim his wallet, he did not have a fond experience. To start, staff had to search through multiple drawers and offices to locate the lost wallet. This wallet held $1300 cash within it, so needless to say it was surprising for it to not have had a secure location to have been kept. He was also told directly by a staff member that by looking at his ID, coupled with the amount of cash within, they had assumed he was a drug dealer and that he would never come in to collect his belongings. They also never intended to call him themselves, as the woman who had initially found it mentioned she would call him. A facility you should be able to trust should not make false assumptions about a person’s character based on personal biases. It is also not the responsibility of the finder of a missing or lost item to contact that person themselves after turning said item in to such a facility. If it were up to this department my father would have never had his wallet returned to him. Both my father and myself feel overwhelmingly let down and disappointed by Coal Harbour Community Policing Centre.

Shelly was AMAZING. She contacted the authorities to help us resolve our civil matter. Without her help I don't think it would have been resolved. She saved our vacation. Thank you Shelley and Constable Jason! ?
