★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a wonderful store, full of beautiful hardware and household items not found anywhere else in Victoria. The store is well laid out and most of the staff are knowledgeable and helpful. The new location is a huge improvement on their previous site in Oak Bay. It's a shame that the owner is so difficult and unpleasant to deal with. She has no warmth, and appears quite cranky most of the time. It feels like any inquiry is a huge imposition. Otherwise I would rate the store perfectly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I did a renovation last year and my contractor recommended that I deal with Victoria Speciality Hardware. I had never done a renovation before and it was a bit overwhelming. The staff at Victoria Speciality were exceptionally helpful. They offered me many suggestions and made everything so simple and clear. They even gave me a deal on a kitchen faucet that was in stock. I was very pleased, it was a positive experience and would recommend this store to anyone looking to do any size of project. Good location, easy to park, friendly staff and the displays are nicely laid out.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was visiting Victoria last month and went shopping with my sister for some bathroom fixtures. We went to this store and not only did she find what she wanted but I found an exquisite towel warmer for our condo in Toronto. Exactly what I wanted as a birthday present for my husband.
The store is beautifully laid out and features a wide range of products. The staff were very friendly and I even met the lovely couple who own the store. One of the owners was delightful and charming who was originally from Toronto and we talked about where we grew up and how it is difficult to find specialty hardware items in Toronto which are not the run of the mill stock usually found at the big outlets. I will visit this store every time I visit my sister and would recommend it to anyone.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely horrendous experience!!!
We ordered three door locks/handles to the tune of $1400. They took TEN WEEKS to arrive! We ended up having to buy locks while we waited (because we needed to be able to lock our home!)
We had already given a 50% deposit when we first order but when my husband went in to pay when they finally were in the store, they charged him the ENTIRE amount. Thank god I looked at the invoice myself after, otherwise i may not have caught that we were charged an extra $750!!! I can only imagine how many customers who have larger projects than us DONT catch this fraud!!!
When my husband went in to get the $750 overcharge return, he got nothing but a sheepish apology.
They have beautiful products to be sure, but be warned of TERRIBLE service. I can’t believe it actually ended up costing us money (having to buy three lock systems while waiting) to be customers here, not to mention the fact that they are clearly counting on customers not being on the ball so that they can double charge them. I really am concerned about this business practice!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The staff here are incredibly snooty (because they are next to Hourigans I have stopped in several times) and always make you feel like you are a bother. Clearly not interested in your business. 1 star on customer service.
Their selection of cabinet hardware is decent so 2 stars on that. If you find something you like there, source it from another supplier. I saved a ton of money by doing so.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Yes, I have to complain about the snootiness of the customer service. I have had a few of these experiences there and would not return except for the fact that the store actually carries a few very nice pieces in a showroom. But expensive. Which I have paid, but received less than excellent service about when I make further enquiries. One would think that if you spend 10k in a store and they see that in their records they don't tell you they are heading home at 4:31 so "no can do today". Especially after Covid and heading into a recession, good customer service will save you, or people won't bother or go on the Internet. Tempted.
