★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have waited three years to be sure I could provide this review with 20/20 hindsight and not the knee-jerk response I would have provided at the time.
Bradley Smith is a competent lawyer. However, his “bedside manner” is sorely lacking.
The client should be kept involved in the process and should receive periodic updates regarding the status of their case. A client should never have to guess or be kept in the dark regarding the status of his or her matter. The client should know what the practitioner is doing and why.
After two very frustrating years of being represented by him, I complained to the senior lawyer at his law firm of multiple emails left unanswered, and receiving no updates for MONTHS at a time. I was then told by Bradley that my complaints demonstrated a lack of confidence in him, and as such, he could no longer be my lawyer. I was left having to find a new lawyer and start all over again.
Reviewing my file, which the firm returned to me, I was able to see that Bradley had been representing me properly, as any lawyer should. However, very little of this was ever communicated to me, which understandably left me frustrated and scared. Emails requesting updates left unanswered for months is inexcusable.
Of additional offence, his immediate termination of representation, rather than taking criticism and trying to repair communication, also left me with a tremendous debt incurred by having to hire another lawyer and start again.
For this reason, I cannot recommend Mr Smith.
