Vancouver Hairdressing Academy- Vancouver Location

I went there before. The student hairdresser provided the service with professionalism, carefully trimmed your hair and focused in every details. If you don’t mind to sit on the chair for a few hours for student consultation with their instructor, this is the salon of great service and affordable price you shouldn’t be missed.

Was here for the Vancouver hairdressing academy's student hair cut program. They have two campus locations: Vancouver and Surrey. The Vancouver campus now moved to the same location with Space Salon. Have been to both the Vancouver and Surrey locations but this time around wasn't impressed with the process. Usually the instructors are active and check on student's progress quite often and check in with the clients as well, but this time, they left the student to cut my hair with barely any group consultations and check ins. Other than the initial conversation on what I wanted to do (didn't bother to look at the pictures I have on my phone). Through out the process, they didn't check on the student who is doing my hair (e.g. check evenness of the cut etc. Like they use to every time I have been there). Maybe it's because these two instructors for the day were different and more hands off, but I think they should at least check the progress at least two times, which still would be way less than the number of check ins I am use to experiencing. There was also an error in the tabulation of the bill. (The receptionist first charged me for coloring (which I didn't end up doing. Normally not a big deal but pretty sure she was there when we discussed not doing it). Then she didn't seem to know the price of a regular cut. I think she still made an error in the final charge, but I didn't want to argue with her so just paid and left. It would be nice to also have an itemized receipt because it appears that tip was included, but now I am not sure if it was just an error on the bill. I think next time, I will go to the Surrey campus as it was a better experience there last time. Other student hair cut options would be the Blanche MacDonald or VCC hairdressing schools. (I have been to the Blanche McDonald one and it was amazing!)

Came in for a hair trim today, the student and the instructor were amazing and I liked how the instructor explained everything to the student who was cutting my hair and I got exactly what I wanted. The best part was seeing how the instructor was very patient and super friendly too. I would definitely come back again

Got a balayage and cut done here. The final look was great but they lose a star because the stylist kept randomly leaving me alone without telling me. Also the prices on the website are very misleading I ended up paying over twice as much as I was expecting (almost as much as a normal salon).

As others have stated prices don't match their website. If you're going to spend 200-300$ on your hair you might as well go to a professional.

This school is professional and clean and the staff and students are amazing. They were very welcoming and kind, and did an awesome job on my hair! I made a regular appointment at first, but Anthony (one of the teacher's) gave me a call right away letting me know if I wanted a free bleach by being a model for the students to work on. I agreed, and I don't regret it. The teacher's are always there making sure nothing goes wrong and I have an awesome new do to boot! My next hair appointment will definitely be here again, (even if i have to pay next time ;) ). Thank you for the amazing experience!

I've tried other school but this is the best one for hair color. The instructor is always near by and attentive, and the students do a fantastic job! Takes the same time as my previous hairdresser but costs $80 less!

I was amazed at the support the students got. The process I was getting done took more than 5 hours, partly due to the student learning to 'speed' up and mixing the product to the right consistency. The instructor took time to explain and put my expectations of the end results into what was realistic to achieve. The results were amazing. I would go back and recommend the facility. Some suggestions for the students: 'talk more about what you are doing to the client and why you are doing what you are doing.' Love the business concept of teaching and helping these amazing upcoming hair stylist.
