Beautiful and most quiet place in the valley. Super remote wilderness with lots of wildlife. Lake is blue and beautiful, easy to swim at. Forest is very green and deep. Multiple hikes around the lake and surrounding lakes, campground 5 km walk at the other side of the lake. Toilets at each parking lot, garbagge too.

Gorgeous location. Area for picnic, small BBQ fire pits available, benches, lake water is quite cold but views are absolutely amazing. Perfect for family outings. Bit of a drop to the water shore so I would advise to be careful with little children. Washrooms are natural and without running water. Half an hour walk to water fall near by.

This was my first of the many lakes I visited in Banff area. Green/blue water surrounded by mountains. Picture perfect

We went on a hike to Upper Kananaskis lake in the end of March. There was no cell service while driving on a good stretch of the Kananaskis Trail and while hiking on the Upper Kananaskis lake trail. Locating the day use parking area was a little confusing as we did not see any signage for it but we eventually figured the way out. Parking lot is a good size and just a few cars in the lot when we reached. Pit toilets available in the parking lot. The trailhead had a lot of snow, had to actually climb over the snow to get on to the trail (picture attached). Once on the trail the views of the frozen lake and the Rockies were absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking. The trail is covered in snow and some parts are quite icy, cleats are recommended. The trail is flat at first but you get inclines from time to time. It gets narrower and may be trickier for two- way foot traffic. You find the signage for the Rawson Lake Trail 1.2 km from the parking area. The weather was great for the hike. We hiked for more than an hour and stopped many times for pictures. I plan to visit in summer as well. Highly recommend this hike!

Spacious convenient parking lot on the shore of Upper Kananaskis Lake is a good starting place for the number of classical trails in the area: Rawson Lake Trail, Upper Kananaskis Lake Trail and Hidden Lake
