Came front Toronto as soon as my dad was admitted with a high degree of heart failure. I’m single vaxed but had a mask and a negative covid test that morning. We called to make sure my nephew would be allowed in. Needless to say we’re weren’t allowed entry to see my dying father. The icing on the cake is that they wouldn’t let us use the washroom that was 100 ft away after a 4 hr drive. Lucky for us, he rallied and things look way better than they did. Thanks guys for the understanding with this! ?

*EDIT* EVERY interaction I've had with this hospital and its staff has been horrendous. Starting with my heart attack they kept me for an extra week forcing me to undergo unnecessary tests only for them to have to do the test I wanted at the end of the week. Then the spam calls for follow up appointments and when I call back I get rude nurses who obviously hate their job and refuse to help you. THEN TO TOP IT OFF I come in to an appointment and wait for 30 minutes in the waiting room and you cancel my appointment and tell me I can sit for hours and hope someone doesn't show or reschedule after I just paid to Uber there. I'll never be coming back. Would rather have another heart attack than deal with your "tests" and terrible staff. Cannot describe how beyond frustrating it is dealing with these unprofessional people. I manage a retail store and we treat our customers better than these "health care workers", that's embarassing.

Ottawa hospitals are not what they used to be, Spent 2 nights at the institute after being admitted through emergency, could not get any rest while there, to the point I left, I had removed my heart monitor and it was off for at least 25 minutes while I was getting dressed and ready, no one batted an eye until I dropped it off at the nurses desk, And then they physically prevented me from leaving until I signed a waiver. Worst experience I ever had and it's no better today, Doctors are there to make money, they don't care about your health. No support when inquiring about the COVID shot apart from the general policy of recommending the shot( she didnt even care about what my affliction was ) , Don't trust them.

I had an echocardiogram this morning & arrived with severe anxiety. The experience could not have been easier, though, thanks to the exceptional staff & easy-to-navigate layout. I received the results from my doctor exactly 2 hours after the echo was performed. Sincerely grateful for the fantastic care I received! Many thanks to the Ottawa Heart Institute :)

uh, .. lady giving me an MRI this morning was incredibly rude. Never been treated like that by any health care professional in my life (and I've been in hospitals getting heart surgeries since 2000). Not sure who it was, brunette about 5'6-5'7, looked about 35. In on morning of November 4th took my MRI. She needs to fix her attitude. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the rest of the staff seems to be ok. This hospital I'm sure saves lives. Important work. But it's also important to treat people with kindness and gratitude.

I wish there were more stars I can give to the Heart Institute. The doctors, surgeons, nurses and hospital staff are fantastic and really care for their patients. Being a training hospital they are always innovating with new procedures and technologies. The lab technicians are great answering questions about the tests while giving patients confidence that you are in good hands. Even the orderlies are friendly and give kind words of encouragement. There is also an excellent rehab program that patients can take advantage of. The hospital staff give strength, hope and empathize with families and patients during troubling times. It is no wonder why the hospital is so successful in improving the quality of life for so many.

Mother was in for an angiogram, brought in via ambulance from another hospital with no change of clothes, wallet etc (was told they would not be needed upon departure). She was there for 5 days, took 2 days to even get soap, during a pandemic, no change of clothes offered, missed dinner one night because she was told they *might* be able to "squeeze her in" and didn't, had to arrange a ride home at the last minute after being told she would be taken home by ambulance. Most of the staff was polite, helpful and courteous albeit overworked. Head nurse was very much not. 2 stars. Added a star because I understand being overworked and understaffed and because it IS a hard time for HCW. 3 total. the "system" needs revision.
