Wow what a huge change. I am very pleased with the service of how I was greeted at the beginning. The food was very good quality and other staff were super helpful, courteous and made my time enjoyable. Compliments to the current new Chef and the kitchen team. I will definitely return and I highly recommend this restaurant.

Back to the self serve buffet format, with a glove provided to handle utensils. Food selection is smaller than I remember, but that's to be expected in the age of COVID. Staff is super friendly and the food is as tasty as ever. My one gripe is that $25 per person is a bit steep.

Good food, reasonable price, recommended for family with kids. I feel it's still 75% of what it was used to be 20 years ago. Customer service can be better. My kids already grown up and they said it was better before Covid19. The chicken recipe before was better.

I used to come here years ago. It was never great but decent ayce for the price. Now I'm never coming back after trying their dinner buffet recently. Fries were decent, noodles were okay. Fried chicken was pretty fresh and crispy but tasted like old oil. A lot of the food tasted like freezer burn or had the texture of days old food. No more side area with desserts. Quality has gone down quite a bit. The roasted herb chicken they used to make was one of my favourite things before. I tried their roasted chicken now and it was the worst thing I've had in a restaurant. Tasted rancid and very dry. After barely eating a plate I lost my appetite and had gas for next 24 hours. Luckily no food poisoning. Definitely not worth the price. But at least the renovations look nice.

This is not a review. Instead, I would like to share a story. In 1994, me and my mom had recently immigrated to Canada. Still learning the english language, we had trouble picking a spot to eat on a saturday night. We walked around in metrotown, from zeller, to The Bay. Then, we arrived at Uncle willy. A buffet dinner, where we paid at the gate and you get to fill your own plate. This was perfect. This was our first introduction to western dining. And since then, our family had picked this place for our family meal, usually once a month. Sadly, we left Canada a decade later. And I have not returned back to vancouver, till recently. As I have mentioned, this is not a review. Uncle Willy is not a 5 stars restaurant. Never had been in fact. But the fact is that in 2022, I am very happy that this place still exists. It brings me back memories from my childhood long long time ago. How once upon a time, my family would arrive on a saturday night, eat early and then go home in time to watch the canucks game. My last meal in Canada back in 2004 was at this place. I wont say this place have great food, but I will say this: Uncle Willy is a part of how I associate Vancouver as one of my home. I dont come to vancouver as often as I like, but when I do, I will eat here at least once. And who knows, maybe one day I will bring my own kids here, and show them this was your dad family dinning spot back in the day. I hope for those who are reading this understand why I rate it 5 stars. Its a family dinning spot in every sense. And to me, a bit of what makes vancouverโ€ฆhome. My home.

I heard about this place about 10 years ago and decided to try it out with my family of 4. The kids liked some of the food which was a nice change but I didnt really enjoy any of it. Their fried chicken was probably the best thing out of everything they had to offer. My 5 year old had to use the washroom and I noticed their cleaning chart was a little behind... would I go back? Probably not. The guy who was collecting the dirty plates was really friendly though

I'm the least picky eater and have been coming to Uncle Willys for years now. Unfortunately this was the last straw. The food, for what you pay for, is less than par. The food taste and looks like it was from the day before. The pizza is hard, the chow mein is hard, the bread is hard, the food taste bland and looks very unappealing. The only good item is the fried chicken and they bring out 20 pieces every 20 minutes. Once they bring it out obviously it only last 1 minute. I don't think this business will be open too long.

I thoroughly enjoyed the food. Chicken has a nice crunch on it. Cornbread is out of this world. Just like the way my mom would make it. When I came in, I asked about the mango shake (extra), & they didn't have any available. Part way through my meal, manager came over & asked if I still wanted the mango shake. I said yes, & they made me the BEST mango shake I have had all year. Great service.
