Turf Boss

We hired Turf Boss to give us a new front and backyard. We purchased a new house in South Pointe and required everything. Matt and his crew arrived on time and got to work quickly. Turf Boss built us a fence, a deck, 3 custom gardens, 2 walkways and sod in the front and backyard. The house looks AMAZING!!! We constantly get comments and remarks about the workmanship and quality of the landscaping. We give them 5 stars because that is the highest rating, we'd give more if we could. Thank you Turf Boss, you changed our property forever.

I've been a customer of Turf Boss Landscaping for over 7 years. Matt and his crew have always provided great service and friendly advice. They provide my year round property maintenance and without fail every uear the yard looks amazing and the snow is always cleared. I recommend Matt and Turf Boss to everyone. Great Job Guys!

We've used Turf Boss for property maintenance at our rental properties. They are punctual, friendly, fast and do a great job. EDIT: I had been emailing the company over the definition of a year, and when I was treated unprofessionally, I asked not to be contacted any further. I received an email within 10 minutes of be stating I did not want any future contact. They can't read and follow basic instructions. Horrible! I got the Complete Year Round package and was significantly disappointed. I often had to email to remind them to shovel my drive way and my back lane. They never put any salt down. When they would mow, there would be grass trimmings all over my walk ways. When I inquired about my services as I still had a month left on my contract, I was sent a horrible snarky email. They are incredibly rude, hard to get a hold of, over charge for their services and under perform. I would NEVER use them again.

We hired them to install our sod. It looks amazing and their website has lots of tips and tricks. Matt helped us every step of the way

I ordered the Spring Cleanup Package. I also warned them that last fall I ran out of time and hadn't done a fall clean up. It was a mess! There are so many good things to say, so I'll list them off from my perspective, and hopefully it's useful for you. 1. The turf boss team showed up on time, did everything they advertised quickly and efficiently. 2. They have the right tools and heavy equipment (probably not the stuff you have), and made quick work of our yard. 3. I don't have to take hours away from work or away from my kids on the weekend to deal with this. 4. They are professionals that honestly do a better job of it than I would have. Based on this experience I would recommend them without hesitation. Great Job!

Have spoken with Matt about providing different services over the last two years, each time he has come out to a property he has done exceptional work and we couldn't be more pleased. He pays close attention to detail and is very professional. I would recommend any of his services to anyone!

We have been extremely disappointed with the service we received from Turf Boss. When you first meet Matt he promises you a lot and then severely under delivers. He often talks poorly of other companies and brags about his degrees. Firstly - we entered into a yearly contract for monthly services for lawn and snow (the OCD package) for $105.00 per month. We paid $210.00 upfront and then monthly. When our lawn was not showing improvement we asked what we could be doing (paying more for more fertilizer etc) and from the moment we expressed concerns Matt became rude, condescending and argumentative. When we emailed asking to meet to discuss our options for our lawn he would either not respond until we sent more emails or called and then would say he would be by to discuss and then not show up. We were hesitant to make the July 1st payment for services when there was no communication. He finally responded to our emails and said he would not be doing further work. Secondly - we hired him to install a flower bed and told him we had a $500.00 budget. He advised that he could do 4 bushes and 4 fescue for this price. As time went on he said he could not do it for $500.00 but wanted $600.00. We agreed to pay more. Once the flower bed was completed we were not happy with the quality of the work. There were major flaws with the construction of the flower bed (see photos of the weed barrier not covered by mulch and weeds a day or so after the flower bed was installed coming up the side of the weed barrier) which Matt told us were “minor inconveniences”. We also did not want the rocks previously in our yard to be used as trim for the flower bed as we did not like the look and were concerned about the rocks getting caught in the lawn mower. When we mentioned our concerns to Matt he was defensive and rude. It took him 3 weeks to fix the weed barrier and he never resolved the weed issue. He had told us he used a product to kill the weeds but new ones were in the flower bed days after it was installed. When he came the only time to fix it he added mulch to the flower bed but he left the large weeds coming up from under the weed barrier he poorly installed and didn’t even take the minute to pull them – keep in mind we were also paying for the OCD package for our lawn and he had assured us we’d have the OCD lawn and flower bed as set out in his ads. Matt had also asked us to choose flowers from Jensen Nursery’s website (which I did). In the end the flowers he chose were not the type I had asked for but were ok. He told us on more than one occasion that the flowers from Jensen Nursery had a one year warranty. After he unilaterally stopped providing us the monthly lawn service we signed up for I asked him to provide me with the paperwork for the one year warranty for the bushes and he said he would mail it to me. That was 7 weeks ago. I do not have the paperwork and therefore do not have a warranty on the bushes (two of the four bushes seem to be dying). His email said he mailed the warranty documents to me but I did not receive them. I asked him to contact Jensen Nursery (they cannot help me since I didn’t buy directly from them) for another copy of the paperwork however he has not responded to this request, which was made over a month ago. Do not fall for the promises of high quality work and customer service. Matt falls extremely short of this. We spent almost a $1,000.00 for a flower bed (no Jensen Nursery warranty on the bushes that he promised) and two months of lawn care. ETA in response: The allegations made by Matt are absurd. His initial response to my review was offensive and completely unprofessional (he has since deleted it). You will notice an influx of positive reviews hours after my review - I will let you decide who to trust. We still do not have the warranty for the bushes that we paid for.
