Totem Outdoor Outfitters is a non commission based Edmonton owned and operated business.
Since first opening we have prided ourselves on our customer service and the product knowledge we offer. Since we are only store based and do not offer products online, it gives you, the customer, the ability to connect with us one on one.
We are proud members of the Sports Excellence Corporation, which allows us to bring in top quality brands at competitive prices. Our staff is here to help you find what best suits your needs and budget. We personally use the products we sell for our own outdoor adventures.
Totem is constantly evolving to keep up with current trends and brands. In each of our three sections, we try to feature what you, the customer, have been asking for and purchasing over the years. We currently have three sections to our store. The Sports Exchange, Rental and Repair Department and the Retail Outdoor Store.

A couple of months ago I had purchased a pair of used skates for my daughter, and on the skates had been a pink sticker noting a discount of $4 for skate sharpening. I had put this sticker in my vehicle but forgot about it, until I was picking up the skates and saw a sign that said something like 'used skates discount $4'. I went to my vehicle to retrieve the sticker, as I assumed it was good for one use on skate sharpening. I had after all bought used skates there.
The guy who retrieved my son's skates said 'I don't know what you're doing with that', almost accusationally as though I'd removed it today from a pair of skates in the store. I said I'd bought my daughter's skates there, and he replied 'I still don't know what you're doing with that, why you're holding it', making me feel ridiculous. I said from their sign I assumed you got a discount with the sticker. He said 'yeah, if it was still on the skates!' Sorry, after I purchase something I usually don't leave anything like stickers or tags on them. I found this service member to be quite rude, and this encounter had me leaving the store vowing I wouldn't return to get skates sharpened there if that's how customers get treated - like they're stupid. There are many other nicer ways this man could have explained their policy.

They have a wide selection of sporting goods, they take your used sporting goods and consign them in store or give you store credit on the spot for your next purchase. They also have an awesome selection of jackets, pants, boots, hikers, technical clothing, etc. The staff are super knowledgeable, friendly and the customer service is excellent. I recommend Totem to everyone!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is so cool! They have a huge array of gear for small boat needs, very fair trade in and consignment policy and prices, chill and friendly staff. Plus they have Edmonton's biggest ski pole, and an adorable tiny canoe.

Sven was so polite, knowledgeable and made the experience a piece of cake. We would definitely be back and recommend his helpful advice to fellow shoppers. ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bought some skates and other various hockey equipment and found everything I needed without much help, the store is laid out nicely. Not a whole lot of variety in one single product, but loads of different sport products, and some pretty dang decent deals for used equipment in good enough shape. Some surplus pro equipment as well. Some of the stock is a little too pricey for being used, but still probably the best place to go to pick up used equipment that's in good or better shape, and reasonably priced.
