Different atmosphere than other markets. Friendly Angelo can give you a lot of tips on Italian cooking and make you taste cheese and ham. Many traditional foodstuffs from the Mediterranean.

How odd to be the first person to write a Google review of this rightly venerated institution. For anyone seeking more opinions, Tosi has around twenty reviews on Yelp. It deserves twenty thousand. I am new to Vancouver. My initial impression is its small business community is in relatively good shape, and it likewise suffers relatively little from the soulless sameness of big box chains. Be that as it may, Tosi Italian Food is a rare gem, a delight ... a time machine. It takes me back half a century to memories of family run enterprises of all sorts, owned and operated by people who genuinely cared about what they sold to the public. Tosi carries an eclectic mix of products to be sure (some of which are typically difficult to impossible to find), but I wager every one is at least as good and probably better than you'll get elsewhere, and the prices are remarkably low! The space is a little dingy and dark. The scent is somewhere between musty and intoxicating. The experience is a treasure. My advice is to take the time to linger. If you planned to stay ten minutes, take thirty. If you planned to purchase two or three products, explore many more. I have a hunch that if and when Tosi doesn't provide its goods to Vancouver, they'll be available nowhere else ... except, perhaps, the internet. What a shame. Here's hoping that day never comes. Long, long, long live Tosi's. And take note: cash only.

I had very bizarre experience at this place. The shop windows intrigued me so I went inside and discovered the interior to resemble a small village general store. It was very rustic and, in truth, charming in its own way. Unfortunately, the shopkeeper exhibited a kind of inhospitality whose motive or intent is beyond me. During my entire visit, never once did he acknowledge me; while at the same time being unresponsive when I said hello (multiple times). I can't give a full review on the content of this store but based on this exchange (or lack thereof), 1/5.

I went here to buy 00 flour as most non specialty grocery stores don't seem to have it. They had what I needed but the older man who I could only assume from the photos on google is the owner of the shop, helped me to find it. When I went to see if I had enough cash on hand he asked me about my thoughts on the bombing in Spain. I told him that I did not know much about it yet, he then went on to tell "Trump should bomb all of those Islams" I was so shocked that I dropped my change, I had enough to buy the two bags I wanted. While trying to regain my composure and wondering whether or not to engage this octogenarian in a discussion about hate speech and Islamaphobia, he went on to tell me "He should find the spot and bomb them, good or bad". I told him that I'd much rather spend my money at a much better local business and left immediately.

An old authentic Italian grocery store. Too bad it can't survive under the circumstances. Mr. Tosi will chat with his customers like neighbors talking around their corner. Not like those Walmart or superstores cashiers rushing you out. Warm old fashioned shopping experience here.

They have a nice variety of pasta that I haven't been able to find elsewhere. Great store owned by a lovely couple. Would definitely recommend.

Very old school charm. I've been coming to store for over twenty years. The owner has been friendly with me although he may have hearing challenges. He carries items at a very good value and I don't think he is in it for the money but the legacy and enjoyment in running his business. The spices, pasta, and other items keep me coming back.
