★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Coming across the Tofino Float'em Garden was a very pleasant experience. I parked across Campbell at the Village Green. I wanted to walk down to Anchor Park and look at the water, islands and the little totem. On my way down to the water though I passed Pete Clarkson's public art installation The Tofino Float'em Garden.
The pieces are all constructed from marine debris he and others have collected. They are nestled in some feather reed grass next to the sidewalk. The art made me think of a few things. One was the sheer amount of garbage we create as a species. The other was that as a species we are capable of making beautiful things out of seemingly nothing; garbage itself is a resource.
