Tobermory Inn & Suites

This was the only option for my long weekend travel to Tobemory, and I was hesitant due to the amount of negative reviews. However, overall experience is great. I received text confirmation for our ETA, and I received the keys to our room at the entrance. The right wing of the building is under reno, but it is not the guest accommodation area and does not affect the guest experience at the Inn. Our room has great view and the guest room provided us with all the necessities. Again, It is not a 5-star hotel so it is pretty standard and decent. Thank you.

The only thing I wish they had is breakfast even if for an additional fee. The rooms ARE smelly, that is right. But the entire hotel is under renovation and I give them 1* in advance anticipating that they'll change the carpeting and the smell goes away. Try asking for odd room numbers - they have a balcony and face the waterfront. Very close to the Downtown and you don't really need more for a long weekend "sleep-over".

This isn't a five star hotel, but much better than paying 300 a night for a motel literally 500 meters away. Close enough to view the harbour from your suite balcony, easy check in and out using lockbox to obtain room key after hours. Overall I found it to be suitable for my needs; and will return again in the future.

Perfect location, everything is in walking distance. Beautiful lake view. New balcony with chairs, excellent relax. Yes, there is renovation, but our "side or wing" was quiet, perfectly clean, easy to access and enjoy. We received email with information about renovation, we expected that. Clean bathroom with towels, clean king size bed, small fridge and microwave. We brought our cutlery, small plate and cup. There is no coffee maker but i used microwave to warm water for my tea. I like the self-check-in process, easy to follow instruction. Mr. Hassan was amazing as well.. I would love to come back to this hotel in the future.

Nice place, but under reconstruction with a new management. It's opened 30% and they are doing everything to minimize the impact. Rooms are not at a high end, but cozy and freshly painted with upgrades, having fully renovated bathroom and new appliances. If you are not too picky, it's a great place to stay.

I took a gamble by booking here after reading some of these reviews, I was hoping that the people leaving negative reviews had one-off experiences but they were all entirely right. We came in to check in on the first night of our stay, after 25+ kms of rugged and rainy trails hiked, and found out that the shower was not functional. Apparently the shower has to be "manually set" with pliers to shower mode or bathtub mode. We never received any instruction about this, and ended up having to have our party of 4 take turns squatting in the bathtub in order to bathe ourselves. I was extremely upset at this, and we tried to contact the staff to have this addressed, but nothing happened and no one ever got back to us. The next morning, one staff member came and told us that he could fix it with pliers, so at least the second night we were able to shower properly. The climate control in the room is also very loud and disruptive, and I wasn't able to keep it on overnight, which led to us getting quite chilly throughout our 2 nights here. I didn't pack a down sleeping bag or any extra layers, but I guess I survived. I really don't know if I would stay here in the winter, if the climate control is still an issue. It was peaceful enough, being in off season, not many people around. If you are looking for the very basic roof over your head, a flushing toilet, and running water, I would say that this is your place. I would also say that most campgrounds could ALSO be your place, and campsites usually come with total nature immersion and a stunning view for stargazing. Also, some sleeping mats+bags can be quite comfortable. So I guess, go in with no expectations, and you get what you get.

I don't recommend this, if you are checking in during nights. We booked 2 rooms but we got keys for only 1 room and they didn't even returned my payment. Room wasn't good. Location was good.

If I could I would give 0, Just in some words, I left the room after half an hour and could not stay any longer. I have filed a complaint if I can get my money back. The washroom flush was not working, think about the rest yourself.
