I had heard many great things about The Tin Roof, I'm hoping the chef was having an "off" night but the price is a little high to give it a second chance.
My boyfriend and I started with a bruschetta, it was decent; no complaints but nothing special.I then proceeded to order "the prime rib special" and my boyfriend ordered the filet minion. I had asked for my Prime Rib "medium" The Tin Roof seriously overcooked it and then proceeded to cover the entire Prime Rib in cheap canned gravy. A thick paste of high sodium garbage to essentially hide that my meat was not only well done but was also 95% fat. My boyfriends filet minion was also covered in the same garbage. Why would a classy establishment cover the most flavourful piece of meat with a thick canned sauce? Was it old? Was it in hopes that we wouldn't notice it tasted like crap? This place is essentially a low end truck stop disguising the food with high end prices.For the same price as the Keg, I could've been tended to better with a less overwhelmed server, I would've had the a delicious prime rib dinner as well as the best cut of filet minion AND my Au Jus would''ve been warmly waiting on the side of my plate. What it comes down to is that the food was not worth half the money that was being charged. The server was an extremely friendly gentlemen but he was so occupied that he was unable to be tentative to all the customers needs. I would never go back here, i'd rather eat Swiss Chalet. However, if you just want a drink the ambiance is beautiful.
