Really good school, for the majority of the time teachers are great, students are very friendly, and it's a great school to attend!

Attended this highschool from 98_01. Had excellent teachers at the time. This school puts both an emphasis on academics as well as the tech streams. Has many tech programs. Recently was renovated. Now a top notch highschool.

Alumni from 95-00. I learned more from discovery Channel & tinkering with my windows pc @home than i did from the stuck-up teachers, or using their Unix computers which all of york region schools were stuck with. AFAIK, york region teachers were the highest paid in the Provence@the time. This school disillusioned me from public learning... However I'm still a life long learner. Most of my life long friends are from here however. Social aspect gave it my only stars. Hopefully it has improved... It had been quite a long time since my disappointing experience.

The Math curriculum is higher that I expected. However, sometimes the students are uncontrolled when it comes to using their phones during lessons or work period. Overall, it's great school to attend to.

Spent my last 4 years here (Alumnus from 15-19) so my exprience should be considered the most recent, and hopefully, the most unbiased. Long time ago I made a review using the school-provided google G suite acct (which had a smiling snare drum as pfp), which I believe now has been buried forever. First of all, speaking from my experience, both myself and my mates, this school is great! Lots of opportunities for students, friendly consellors and staff, most teachers genuiely care for you, and your grades when you move into senior years. Occasionally some teachers might be having a bad day/week and they'd be not so patitent, but they still get the job done. You just need to find out that subtle point of comfort, and you're good to go! Second to that, we have a proud well-functioning (maths) AP program taught by experienced individuals (mostly of Italian descent. Once you get into school you'd know who that refers to). Parenthesized "maths" because there are always decent amount of students interested in doing Maths AP every year, whereas in other programs (sci, eng, comp sci, etc) participancy is not so consistent. The overall atmosphere was great and enjoyable - you can find yourself fitting into at least one group, regardless of your interests/ethics/hobbies, so def no "the ppl didn't really like me there", as commented by Mateo R. below. You do have to reach out tho - open yourself up. Unlike D-Ford's current policy, the school does put a decent amount of focus on its art programs, which after years of work, have achieved a balance with STEM. My personal experience tells that the music program was great (They have REAL AND GOOD marimba/timpani/hand Held cymbals/drum set at a LOT OF other stuff). As for fine arts and photography and drama, take some time off and go for a self-oriented orientation. I guarantee that you'd be surprised and pleased. A couple things to keep in mind: - Seek help asap when you feel like you need some. The teachers are there for you all the times, don't be shy, there won't be any discrimination against you for your doings - helping you out is one of the things they are paid to do. - Plan your courses before hand. Although not as crazy as UTSG first year, you do have to request elective courses, and you could end up not getting what you wanted. Fortunately, as long as you have a legitmate reason, you'll likely get in, so be ready to talk, a lot. Again if you feel like you need help with it, ask for it. Nobody will know unless you tell it out. - Use your resources! The teachers are all qualified and def know MORE than the curriculum, so make sure you dig into stuff and ask them questions. In uni/college class sizes will get bigger, and decent amount of profs would be more interested in research than teaching...you would have way less possiblity of encountering good & caring teachers who would actually KNOW YOU AND REMEMBER YOU as in TSS. One of my biggest regrets was not putting in enough effort during grade 12 to look into the materials deeper. That's basically my feelings & advices. A simple five-star-rating isn't enough to express my appreciation, so I wrote this long thing to aid with it. In these 4 years, I made a lot of stupid mistakes, but also learned a lot of things, which I couldn't have possibly done without the supportive community. If you are able to make to TSS, then come! Take your time, do your work, and you won't disappoint!

(2019-2020) 1 year into the school, and in my opinion this school is great. The staffs are nice, the lessons are good, and I have been learning a lot. There are quite a few programs, clubs and activities. The cafeteria food is a bit overpriced and lacks in variety, but there are plenty of alternatives nearby.
