About Theatre Incarnate

Theatre Incarnate’s mandate is to produce artistically significant theatre. Our mission is to push the artistic habits and craftsmanship that create engaging theatre, and through a strict adherence to the unity of design with directorial concept, we will compulsively play with genre, form, style, and multi-disciplinary approaches to our art. With these fundamental principles, our goal is to foster fresh artistic opportunities for both the audience and theatre community.

Since our re-incorporation in 2006, Theatre Incarnate has produced/co-produced twenty projects, eight that were new works. Theatre Incarnate consistently proves itself as a dedicated and theatrically innovative company to continually watch!  We are also dedicated to the development of new plays and original creations. In addition to this, through the use of our studio facilities and expertise, we support and assist other small theatre companies in their endeavors.

Theatre Incarnate welcomes all artists and audiences inclusive of race, ethnicity, ancestry, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, and socioeconomic strata. Theatre Incarnate acknowledges that the land on which we gather and create theatre is Treaty 1 Territory. It is the traditional lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the homeland of the MΓ©tis Nation. The name Winnipeg is derived from the Cree name for Lake Winnipeg, win-nipi, meaning “murky water”. We acknowledge our water and electricity are sourced from Shoal Lake 40 First Nation on Treaty 3 Territory. We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories, we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and we dedicate ourselves to move forward in a spirit of reconciliation.
