★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Updated: did decide to buy a cello here in the $40k-$50k range, and it seems that stock in the $10k had improved dramatically compared with a year ago. Alistair and staff helped and recommended me an excellent instrument. Remember to double check your receipts.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Came here for a violin bow hair change which was about $85. Have to order strings through online first and then when available for pick up, they can change the strings for you. Very nice and professional workers! Parking to the right but its owned by UofT. There are 4 destinations spots for customers.

I was looking for the Artino practice mute for my cello, looked around on amazon to see that they priced it almost 4 times more than this shop. So I naturally ordered from The Sound Post instead, and they got it shipped out the SAME day. I was worried about the price difference and the rapidity of the shipping time (call it online shopper’ paranoia) so I called the store, the employee I spoke to was attentive, very informative and super kind. Many thanks from Montreal!

Re: Parking
As other reviews mention if you need parking make sure to park on one of the 4 designated spots behind the building as the UofT parking security actively monitor the lot they share.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely experience having some tune ups on my instrument. My only concern was the Luthier (who I trust implicitly) said they didn't play the instrument after the repairs were done to make sure it all sounded good. Granted when I got home it sounded in tip top shape...just an observation. I will absolutely bring my violin back for future repairs. The staff were kind, professional and easy to work with. I've also ordered strings from there before and it was a smooth process.
