The following is my nightmare of an experience with Dr. Shapero who claims to be a pain specialist. In my experience he gave no indication that he cared at all about the pain I was in. During my first appointment the first thing that was thrust at me was a urine sample bottle,. So I gave them a sample. I was brought into the exam room and he gave me several injections of a nerve block. Then he informed me that the results of my urine test showed I was taking Methadone. Now, I am 60 years old and have never in my life taken Methadone. Have no clue where a person would even get such a drug. I informed him of this but he insisted I must be lying because even though the test was not done in front of me or him it wasn't possible a mistake had been made. The first injections did provide relief but the 2nd injections did not. I asked him why they didn't work and he didn't have any idea as to why. He absolutely denied the possibility that he could have injected me in the wrong spots.So if you do decide to see this Doctor be prepared that the nerve block injections often don't provide relief so there was actually no point in going. Also, when you absolutely tell him the truth he will not believe you. Just remember since he was capable of treating me this way, then he is capable of treating anyone of you this way. His staff was also unknowledgeable about anything to do with the treatments, able only to make appointments and shove urine bottles at you. All with a smile of course. I asked the Doctor why he wanted urine samples even though he was not prescribing me pain medication, his reply was "I like to know what my patients are up to." To me this made him quite nosey. I wish that google allowed for negative stars as that is what I would have rated him at. Lots of negative stars! Don't waste your time with him. That is my personal opinion. I wish you much luck in finding relief from your pain.

Unfortunately, one of the receptionists is incredibly uneducated and unprofessional. She first made my client disclose his diagnosis in front of the waiting room to PROOVE he requires a care giver. This was degrading and embarassing for my client . She then choose to argue with my client and myself in regards to the validity of my clients Healthcard. She was misinformed - by her own negligence as bullitens were sent out by the ministry with new healthcard codes - and refusing heath care services based on her negligence. My client was required to again PROOVE he was entitled to Ontario Healthcare services with his VALID health card. During this refusal of service she said " look at me when im speaking to you" , as she claimed to be a health care "professional". She proceeded to make my client call the ministry himself to proove his health card is valid. At this time the ministry of Ontario informed her that she was INCORRECT and refusing services based on wrong information and her own negligence ( not reading bullitens sent out by the ministry). Finally , then she accepted the heath card . I feel this was an example discrimination and negligence of training on new policy . She judged us when we first came in, degraded us by making us disclose a diagnosis infront of others and then refuse us service based on her negligence . Overall I believe negligence and discrimination of this magnitutde should be addressed and followed up on. This office appears to have a sever lack of awareness of / or current training in current ministry policy or professional copetence or code of standards and no training in inclusiveness or the disability act . If they were aware and trained in new policy and disability act and choose not to utlize thier knowldge than this is a gross case of misconduct.

This is for the receptionist. Incredibly rude, aggressive and ignorant and i hope you are reading this. My wife has been suffering from post pregnancy chronic migrane and was trying to get a refill prescription. Numerous emails and calls were made and finally she had to drive there in person. The incredibly rude receptionist started yelling at her for coming in even though she won't return her calls or emails. My wife was in tears and could not fathom why the Receiptionist was being so aggresive by using Covid as an excuse. I hope you are reading this Dr. SHAPERO. We are absolutely shocked after witnessing this senseless aggression and verbal abuse. WE ARE SURE MORE OF YOUR PATIENTS ARE BEING HARRASSED BY THIS LADY ON A DAILY BASIS.

He's ignorant and doesn't try to know/ understand his patients... I saw him twice... He asked me the exact same questions both times.... And prescribed me meds that I told him didn't work...

Dr shapero is amazing. Super friendly and informative. I was referred to him after having a horrible experience with another specialist in Ajax. He offers the best methods of pain management and ongoing care. He is thorough and I feel very heard after each appointment. Unfortunately one of his receptionists is the rudest and most unprofessional person I have EVER met in my entire life. I had her on speaker phone while I was at work and my coworkers were shocked at the way she spoke to me. Despite her behaviour his office has been an amazing experience for me.

Complaint strictly with front staff! I drove from Peterborough to attend the clinic with my daughter for her appointment Prior to the appointment day I called and left a message stating I would be driving her and needed to discuss with them insurance information for her procedures. Never received a call back. The day of appointment the receptionist was extremely rude & unprofessional. I wasnโ€™t allowed into the building due to covid protocols. No where on their answering machine does it state the office protocols or listed on the website either. She rudely told me to call to discuss anything with them. I again mentioned I called earlier the previous day and left a message. She rudely stated that I should have called 48 hours ago in order for someone to speak with me. I work in the health industry and would never consider speaking to anyone in the manner I was spoken too, covid pandemic or not!!!

Not all hero's wear capes! Dr. Shapero was truly a blessing in my recovery after a car accident I was in. My first appointment was in 2018 and I was an emotional mess - I could not believe that I was trying nerve block injections to help with pain management, pressure in my head and 24/7 migraines I was experiencing from a TBI. Dr. Shapero was so compassionate and understanding at that first appointment and even allowed my Mom in the room with me for emotional support. Within 3 months of going every 3 weeks, I was functioning better and a glimmer of hope finally began in my recovery. I have now been a patient of Dr. Shapero for 4 years and I almost never have migraines anymore!! Going from migraines 24/7 to being back at work is an absolute miracle. My recovery was brutal and the only thing I always say is that I wish I had been referred to Dr. Shapero sooner. He is a brilliant doctor, but more importantly a compassionate, kind and overall down to earth person who wakes up every morning to help people. A funny share, his car broke down one morning and instead of cancelling all of his appointments for the day he took a taxi to work because his words "people rely on me here" and sorted his car issues later. I mean - wow! Appointments never flickered during the pandemic and when the government was trying to make budget cuts he was aware that OHIP covered nerve block injections were up for discussion. He prepared letters for patients to send via e-mail/regular mail to their local MPs and submitted a petition. Dr. Shapero really cares about the work he does for his patients and it shows! It should be noted that the Nurses and Receptionists are the sweetest people and do an outstanding job of welcoming you, making sure you have appointments, leave with your prescriptions and have kept everyone walking into the clinic safe during the pandemic! I hope this review helps someone scared to attend their first appointment - don't worry, you are in good/loving hands!

I am a patient of dr Shapero for over 10 years and never regretted a minute. The receptionist is always friendly and very accommodating. Doc has helped me with my migraine and emotionally also. Thank you doc and your amazing staff
