About The Royal Canadian Legion #264

Who we are

The North Calgary Branch of the Legion, commonly known as The Kensington Legion, is one of the largest branches of The Royal Canadian Legion. Opening in our NEW facility in June 2017, we offer our Private Members Lounge as well as our Public Restaurant, the 1918 Tap & Table. With great food & drink, great atmosphere and a wide selection of programs to support our veterans, we are excited to be part of the next generation of the Legion program.

Founded in 1953, Legion Branch 264 and its rich history serve as a reminder of those who gave their lives for what we have today. As you walk into our new Legion, you'll see our plaques and our Legion shop, where you can make purchases to support local veterans. Kensington Legion also features annual Remembrance Day events and is a proud supporter of the Remembrance Day Poppy Fund.

Although historically the Legion has been portrayed as a place for older veterans, Kensington Legion is excited to have a blossoming membership of younger Service Members and  Canadians of all ages who support the principles of The Legion. From live music to baseball, football games, golf & darts, you'll find all the activities you love when you become a member of The Legion.

Visit our legion membership information page today to learn more about how you can join the Royal Canadian Legion today.

Extremely loud restaurant, drafty, no salt and pepper shakers on table. Heavy on pushing alcohol. Mediocre food.

WOW cant say enough good things. We had a very large silent auction fundraiser at the 1918 Kensington Legion last night. Throughout the months leading up to and planning the event Manager Phil was so accomodating and helpful. The night of the event was hectic but the staff was absolutely amazing!!!! There was a great location for the set up for our band and by moving a few tables we had ample room for the dance floor which was packed all night as Infiniti Live was playing. We would recommend having an event or party there anytime or just meeting friends. It gave us all a new appreciation for the legion and what it can offer. And did I mention how delicious the food was? I and a number of our organizers have already or will be signing up for memberships (only $70 a year with benefits). A HUGE THANKYOU TO ALL THE STAFF and PHIL from the organizers of HEARTS OF COURAGE....

I wish I could give a better review, because the food was actually really good and our main server was pretty good as well, however the first 20 mins made be never want to come again. We live a few blocks away and I keep meaning to come, we sat ourselves on the patio and had servers pass by us multiple times with no acknowledgement, so I went inside and asked a lady if we could have some menus because we had been out there for a while and no one had helped us. My issue here is she did not simply just say β€œsorry here I’ll get you some menus” she went on the defense and told me it was my fault because we had come through the patio and we didn’t do what we were supposed to do and even though the other servers passed by us multiple times it wasn’t their fault. I understand there are reasons but I don’t need to hear them and all I asked for was menus not a 5 min lecture about what we should have done. Overall they made me feel more unwelcome than I have at many other places and as a customer I do not want to spend my money on staff who think my presence is an inconvenience versus treating me like a valuable customer. This is how you lose local business.

I'm torn between giving a great review and not giving one because this is such a good restaurant, I want to keep it all to myself. I've eaten there several times and each time the food and service was excellent. The steak sandwich is amazing, their 1918 burger fantastic and you have to try the 1918 Red beer on tap which is now my favorite beer. Kudos to the kitchen staff for the great meals.

Great food, prices are some of the best in the city. Lots of space inside and on the patio. Be prepared to park a few blocks away.

This used to be one of my favorite places. I used to make a habit of going here at least once a week all throughout the pandemic, even with the reduced menu. It's extremely unfortunate that one encounter with a host that is incapable of thinking past the one sentence that she was trained with can change a persons desire for a place, but it is the case. It could have been as easy as her offering us a place to sit in the entry way to download the new QR code, instead of the old vaccine record that has been more than good enough for me to patron this place up until a few days ago. If she had just used a bit of her head, instead of standing on a pulpit and talking condescendingly to me and my partner. Lucky for me and my friends, I live in Kensignton, and there are MANY other options.

Some guy gave this comment about extremely loud and no salt and pepper shakers on the table? It is not loud and if you ask you will get salt and pepper. And they are not pushing alcohol there because kids(families) are allowed in. The staff are very friendly and it's a nice place to chill out and have a nice meal.
