The Plant Place in Cochrane - Cochrane

I’m Breanna the owner of THE PLANT PLACE IN COCHRANE !

. Most people may not know that I once was an elite high performance athlete - I competed provincially, varsity and internationally at competitions all over the world !

. Almost 6 years ago I retired from the sport of competitive swimming - to say I was lacking something in my life after retirement was an understatement ! After having done something your passionate about for 19 years to just stop completely is super wierd - I felt lost!

. When I retired and graduated from U of C I began coaching swimming on the side as I continued my education to get my EMR and EMT certificates - while also working two other part time jobs - During this time was when I first began selling terrariums at markets as Planted Rocks !

. As I began attending bigger and bigger shows in Alberta I knew markets were just a small platform to sell my products - and there was more I wanted to do ! In 2018 I decided I wanted to open up a store front in my hometown of Cochrane!

. December 2018 The Plant Place officially opened ! I continued coaching while I worked full time at the store which was crazy busy - but I loved it!

. In August of 2019 I made the tough decision to stop coaching in order to put all my focus into my store ! It was a very very emotional decision but i knew it had to be done in order to build my store into what I had envisioned it to be!

. My goal in starting The Plant Place is to help educate people on what plant options are best for them and their lifestyle! I wasn’t always good with plants and I still kill stuff - and that’s ok because i have other types of plants that work better for me and my crazy schedule! I’m a huge believer that everyone deserves to have plants in their life!!
