We passed on another hotel in the area and walked in on a whim, we were very happy to get their last available double room. It was huge! One of the larger double rooms I have ever stayed in, with a fridge and excellent water pressure. Right across the street from a grocery store, and with a pub downstairs. Very nice and genuine service from the front desk and pub despite us looking like we had just drove 10 hours in 30 degree heat and smoke. The only critique we had was perhaps a few extra chairs on the shared balcony area as every guest we met was so friendly and wanted to chat!

The food was great. expected it to be classic pub food but it was so much better. The server was fantastic too :). Tip for any gluten free people… the best gluten free bun I have ever tasted and I live in Vancouver…. Very pleasantly surprised! thank you !

Location is awesome! Bed and pillows comfy. And that’s all for the positives. Toilet barely flushed, tub leaked, sub par clean, carpet dated and stained. No microwave but yet there was a safe, mini fridge and coffee maker- seemed odd to leave a microwave out considering there was a seating area where perhaps you would sit to eat at…

Great stay at the Lodge! Dinner at the restaurant was fantastic. Great food, big portions, very reasonable pricing. Nice beer selection. Very friendly and attentive servers and hostesses. Comfortable chairs. The hotel was comfortable and right in the middle of downtown / near the beach. The liquor store in the hotel is handy - we were able to get a couple drinks and enjoy them outside. There is a beautiful courtyard garden with a few patio tables. Room was basic and comfortable, although could use a fridge.

Basic but perfect to enjoy what’s around. Very nice staff and bathroom was clean. Bed was ok too!

We actually went to the restaurant for a meal. The waitress, Sarah, was nothing less than awesome! She was kind and engaging, fun with the 7 and 10 year old children, thoughtful toward a relative in mourning, receptive and perceptive of everyone’s needs. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience under the circumstances in which we met, and the food was perfect for all!

Shocking behaviors. Off season I booked one night for $159 including tax. When I booked a second night for the same price, for the same room, the lodge staff booked it for $159 but added tax so that the total price rose to $172. That's why we canceled the second night. Also, the chef in the restaurant is cutting corners. I ordered a dinner dish that was supposed to come with what the menu stated is "pan-seared beef" and leaves topped with capers. They traded the "pan-seared beef" for sandwich meat in a dish that cost a whopping $16.00. The capers were missing. The new waitress is delightful and was very sweet and apologetic. I suspect the capers were missing because she wasn't getting the training she needed.

My bad...I thought it was a hotel type building. Its not. It's a two storey motel. All units are accessed from outdoors. I was on the ground level, next to the back door of the restaurant. The room had 1980s decor, no fridge, and smelled like 50 years worth of stale cigarette smoke. The floors creaked, as did the room above me...the walls were paper thin and I was privy to the drunken conversations next door for most of the night. The front counter staff was unfriendly at check in and later when I asked about the dining hours. The restaurant was NOT open for lunch...I get staffing is an issue but the website should reflect that. When I asked about a place to go for coffee or a meal...she was not very helpful, no recommendations... I would have asked to be moved to a different room but I was sure that she would be less than accommodating. I ate in the restaurant for dinner and the service was great, the food...fine. I shake my head at the 4 star rating...It is an expensive stay in a somewhat surface renovated 'cheap motel'.
