Having been a student at IHN since January 2014 I have to say that I absolutely love it. The classes, peers, teachers and inviting feel all have made for a great experience thus far.

Please take a few minutes to do some research about this "school" and about holistic nutrition in general. If you'd like to learn about the human body please take a biology course instead. Or better yet if you'd like to learn about nutrition please go to an actual college or university. When you become a certified nutritional practitioner you get awarded a certificate from this institute by an organization that doesn't even have its own website... (Certified Nutritional Practitioners Council of Canada)

I’m a dissatisfied patient and the last remarks I heard was β€œMay be try health food store.” I paid to be told β€œthey don’t know.” What shall we say? Notice the 1 review 5 stars reviewers on here. We know what that truly means.

I'm a proud graduate from IHN (April 2018), and all I have to say is that I miss being a student at this school. The positive energy I use to feel every monday-thursday was amazing, so healing, so positive, this was exactly what I needed. After completely 3 nutrition programs (this was the 3rd one),I am incredibly glad this was the school for me and now I am a proud Holistic Nutritionist, healing 1 client at a time...

I must say that being part of IHN changed my life, lifestyle and looking at our health and well-being from a totally holistic perspective. The teachers are practicing mainstream professionals. Quite intensive courses. A lot of knowledge not only from classes but also from ongoing guest speakers. The atmosphere makes you see practically what you learn in this great institute.

IHN is am AMAZING nutrition school. I attended the campus in North York and had a wonderful experience learning there. The teachers are warm, kind, helpful and very knowledgable. They answered so many of the questions that I had coming into the program. The courses are challenging but in a good way as they are full of irreplaceable scientific information. I do think the teachers do an awesome job of distilling the info to the most essential. So you are not overwhelmed. Quality teachings here at IHN for sure. I took courses on nutrition and the environment, professional skills (public speaking, a food demo, creating a brochure for our future businesses) - this was my favourite course - had an absolute blast, psychology and nutrition, symptomatology (so things that can go wrong in the body and how to address them with food, supplements and lifestyle (in other words, holistic healing - a non-invasive, gentle, effective approach), anatomy and more. At IHN, they encouraged us to look for the root cause of illness - something that I loved. Can we dig a little deeper? Can we see how the systems are working together? Where else can we look for answers - can we find answers that haven’t been tried yet perhaps by a conventional medicine doctor or even a naturopath? Food is such a big part of how we function. And when we don’t tend to what we put into our bodies, we can be setting ourselves up for issues. Food truly is the best medicine. For my COOP, I did a few things. I volunteered with a naturopath and wrote some articles for her like on protein, collagen and calcium. I volunteered with a nutritionist and we worked on case studies together - very helpful. I worked in a health food store - the Big Carrot in the supplements section. Learned lots there. Started to really familiarize myself with all of the products we use as nutritionists there. All of the good brands: Genestra, Cytomatrix, NFH, Douglas Labs, Thorne, AOR, Can Prev and more. And lastly, I volunteered with the student clinic at the school. I got to work with my first client this way and receive some notes from a supervisor - super helpful. I learned a lot through this experience. And my client lost 20 pounds in 3 months following my recommendations, which was awesome. I highly recommend that you try this incredible school this year. It has been a key part on my journey to becoming a well-rounded wellness practitioner. I recently completed a yoga and meditation teacher training as well. I have taken some psychology courses at U of T. And I am about to start a masters in psychology. All three of these practices should work really well to support individuals around the world find health: nutritionist, yoga and psychotherapy. The professional skills class that I mentioned that I loved actually gave me the courage to start teaching more - like I recently lead some meditations. That was awesome. If you are feeling nervous about public speaking at all, this course could be really helpful for you. The teachers are so so kind. I cannot stress this enough. It was a different learning experience than being just a number often in big classes at U of T. So intimate. The teachers sometimes lead little meditations at the beginning of class, show us calming or enlivening yoga poses, play a sound bowl or diffuse essential oils in the classroom. I have lots of big goals: publishing wellness books, starting a Youtube channel possibly, starting my one-on-one practice, giving talks around the world on nutrition and health, leading mediations around the world, starting a wellness retreat. All of this should be possible, it actually really feels in reach, I am on my way there, because of those first steps I took at IHN a few years ago. Sign up! Sign up now! Don’t walk, run. It’s that good. That life changing. In the most positive, nourishing (mind, body, spirit) way.

Terrible experience. I made sure to do all my homework including class visits before I started. They didn't reply to emails within reasonable time frame. This was during the beginning of the so-called pandemic. I would not recommend this place which seems more interested in money and calling people names by email instead of actually communicating. I was thinking of becoming a functional medical practitioner but now it seems this female-dominated profession doesn't want males who are doing their homework on a variety of levels. I was virtually the only person doing the speaking and contributions in class and it appears no one was doing the readings. On test day I was virtually the only person there as well. They also kept more than they are allowed under legislation and were not prepared for a telephone call I had with them; even the so-called director was not prepared nor did she offer to postpone a talk to another date! Good thing I bought used books from a previous student who has bad experiences as well for only $125 when they want $1500+ for the new books. I would avoid this place at all costs until they start to sharpen up. Not much holistic about this place!

I was a student at The Institute of Holistic Nutrition in Toronto twenty years ago (2002-2003) and enjoyed every moment of my time there. After graduating from University I still wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life but I knew nutrition and natural healthcare were important to me, especially since I'd been dealing with some health problems and getting through them with the help of dietary changes and nutritional supplementation (where conventional medicine had failed me). I did some research on educational facilities that could further my learning in this field and when I saw the curriculum offered at IHN I was very intrigued. Around that time I had a meeting with Elizabeth Papadapoulos, the school's founder/director and one of the most genuine, impressive people I've ever met. I could see that what she'd established with the IHN was not just a place of learning but a warm and welcoming place with a clear goal of making a positive difference in the world. Shortly thereafter I was given the opportunity to sit in on a class and experience the learning firsthand, which further impressed me. I've never been one to make big decisions lightly but I'd seen and heard enough to know that I wanted to be a part of this environment, and I soon enrolled at IHN feeling very good about my choice. You always hope you made the right decision when you embark on a brand new path in life but any concerns I had were put to rest my first week there learning under great teachers like Murat Vardar and Darko Prce. It really felt like being part of a vibrant and like-minded community from day one. The information I learned was life-changing and the people I met there were wonderful. Fond memories across the board. Looking back on my decision to enroll it was easily one of the best decisions I've ever made. I graduated in 2003 and have been in the nutrition field ever since. It's been a very rewarding and fulfilling career and I owe it all to my time at IHN.
