The Giles School

We have a great experience at The Giles School. The Principal is very much involved in the school life, approachable and committed. The Teachers are amazing and caring and the kids are respectful and compassionate with each other. The administration staff is one of the best! We love it here! I highly recommend this school!!!

Not so long ago, the Giles school was a high school with a robust reputation and wholesome academic curriculum, and its students were participating into and winning various provincial and interschool competitions. Today, the school goes only to Grade 8. Accelerating student attrition in the lower grades means that there are only a few students who graduate middle school each year. In 2020, there was only one.  Giles is slowly but surely slipping into oblivion due to an overwhelming lack of qualified teachers and pervading low expectations from students and staff alike. The decline and fall is evidenced by students' lamentable mastery of both French and English, by graduation speeches delivered in English, by a principal who does not speak French, by the utter lack of Giles’ participation, and recognition, in any provincial or inter school activities, by no victories in any sport as the school does not even have a proper gym, and students are denied the right to a whole some education. The academic erosion is exacerbated by an ineffective principal who is pulling back the school by introducing in quick succession perfunctory programs and initiatives only to retract them as they gain no support. Upon her guidance, the school has deteriorated into a money-making machine with no understanding or appreciation of academic excellence and community camaraderie. Giles' slip into oblivion is inevitable as parents lose confidence that the school’s high tuition fees justify a substandard education that does not develop their kids' potential. Soon a time will come when all credibility will be lost, and so will be Giles as a school.

I have found the perfect place for my son .The Giles School is the best environment where my child is cared for and loved. I go to work with peace of mind knowing that he is happy and safe. The principal miss Caroline is always there making sure everything is running smoothly. The program is wonderful, the teachers are great and nice. My child is speaking French and teaching me at the same time! I highly recommend this daycare and this fabulous school.

I love this wonderful place, It is small ,clean,colourful,bright and well maintained. Most of it all it is warm and accommodating. The kids are so happy and learning a lot .I am so glad that my daughter has joined this respectful and safe environment. The Giles School is the best. The principal,the teachers and the administrators are wonderful. My daughter doesn’t want to leave the school when I come to pick her up in the afternoon. Thank you Giles School.

It took me and my husband sometime to decide which school to choose for our children. After going to 4 other schools, we finally decided to enrol my children in The Giles School. I had to write a review to express how me and my husband felt, we felt that we belong here. It is such a warm place and the principal who took us on a tour of the school is so passionate about the kids, the staff and the curriculum. I saw the kids happy, they are nice and smart! Teachers are welcoming and the classrooms were fantastic! I love how all the classroom sizes are small comparing to other schools that have over 20+ kids in one class. It was amazing to see the students running to give hugs to the principal with no fear when we visited some classes. I look forward to being part of the community! Thank you Giles School!!!!!!

The daycare at The Giles School should be full simply because it is a wonderful place to send your kids to.We have been there for 2 years and we love it. My daughter looks forward to go to school every day. I am very happy with the academic standards and very pleased to see the Principal Miss Bernaba on top of things making sure all is good for my daughter. The teachers are the best and the whole community is helpful and supportive. Do not hesitate to send your kids there .I highly recommend it .

When I first began exploring the idea of private school, I looked at many schools out there to get an idea what the options were, based on our needs and requirements. It was very important for us to put our children in a school that could provide them with a strong academic base, where our children could feel like they belonged to, and a place we knew our children would be safe in. After looking at many schools, the Giles just felt right. It provides an all round education within a warm and structured environment, excellent language program, outstanding level of teaching, and meticulously crafted curriculum. The academic program is engaging but challenging: the students work hard for the marks they get. The classes are small, so the teachers can be focused on each student. The Principal and the teachers make themselves very accessible and very supportive and the staff are thoughtful and kind. It's been quite a few years for us with the Giles since and my opinion of the school has not changed. As parents, we have watched our children thrive and learn at the school – academically, socially, and emotionally. I appreciate the academic rigor and the fact that parents are encouraged and welcome to participate in the school life. The parent community here is strong and pleasant. Most importantly, the school sees each child as an individual and for me it is one of the biggest selling points to the Giles.

My daughter started grade 1 at The Giles School this September. She transferred from a non-French school and we knew it was going to be a challenge for her. From her first day, she has loved the experience and she is thriving. The other students are kind and supportive, and their parents have also been welcoming to our family. Most importantly, her teacher has been incredibly supportive. She often meets with our daughter one-on-one to help bring her to the level of the other students. Her teacher has also offered a lot of advice for us to work with her at home to transition her into a French education. We could not have imagined a smoother transition to a new school. The Giles School was certainly the right choice for our family.
