This is a beautiful place to reconnect with yourself, nature and the medicine and healing that the land offers us. I've attattend events, sweat lodge ceremonies and have had solo retreats there.. all rejuvenating and exactly what my soul needed at that time. Greatful

If you’re looking into the Hero’s Retreat as a RENTAL (not the spiritual retreat program), look no further, this is your all-informational review. I did a lot of research and sent a lot of emails to figure out if this would work for my group of 16 for 5 nights during the holidays. First of all, the centre is a huge house. There are many different rooms and as requested, the beds were arranged in each room the way we asked, which worked perfectly! This review is honest and informational, with both positive comments and constructive criticism. First off, a shoutout to the go-to person of the property: Christina! She was lovely! She was kind, helpful, welcoming, and all questions during and before our stay were answered in a timely manner. She was very accommodating and determined to make everything work for our group. Pros 1. Spacious and open concept. The whole place has EVERYTHING you could think of that you need for a comfortable stay: dishwashers, laundry room, pans, plates, utensils, coffee and tea, towels, soap, blankets—you seriously don’t have to spend any money on those last minute “extras” which we REALLY appreciated. 2. From many rooms, you can see a GORGEOUS, open view on the property and lake. The surrounding area is lovely for anyone who loves nature—theres a walking path around the lake where we took morning walks and took many pictures of the area and portraits of our group. We saw birds everyday and there were people ski-doling on the frozen lake. 3. Excellent price point and very affordable. Some things that could be improved were: 1. They could use a wi-fi and sound system upgrade for big groups! We had to re-set the wifi many times. 2. The kitchen: 1. We pulled out many wine glasses and mugs from the clean cupboard that were dirty. 2. The fridges had some spilled milk and leftover food. 3. The fridges and cupboards have a lot of food that is ONLY for the spiritual retreats which we were not allowed to touch. No problem with that, except that because it was all mixed in with our own groceries, our group found it very confusing when we pulled out own food from the mix and we had to figure out, “ours or theirs?” There was almost no room in the freezers because it was filled with food for the spiritual retreats. 3. In our group we had 7 kids, so I had a few requests for activities for them. 1. In our tour almost a year before our stay, we were shown a treehouse, but not communicated to that this would cost extra. Upon arrival we were told that we wouldn’t be able to use the treehouse and that it would be an extra cost. If we had known that it was extra, we would have paid for it because we told the kids they would have access to it and they were really disappointed that they couldn’t go into it. When we arrived it was too late for us to have access because it was filled with storage. 2. We were also told that they could use the snow on the property to make a hill for the kids to toboggan on. This was the top activity the kids were looking forward to and had brought all of their sleds. Upon arrival, we were told there wasn’t enough snow. Nature is nature, but we should have been told before our arrival, to reduce the kids being disappointed. They did have a very small pile beside the property but it was much too small for any sliding. We did find a solution. If you continue down Collingwood Cove Drive, you’ll end up at a park with a skating rink and a playground, Christina told us about this park. To the left of the playground is two downward paths into the woods that work PERFECTLY for sledding, so the kids got their wish after all, it was only a three minute drive from the property but you can also walk there following the path around the lake. Although the experience could be improved, this place has enough features and accommodation for a big group that everyone in our group said this was a positive experience for them and really enjoyed their stay. Based on our experience and the customer service, I would indeed recommend this place for your next stay!
