The Don Restaurant has been a downtown dining institution for more than three decades.

In that time, The Don has been the background for meetings, blind dates, morning-after gatherings, family reunions and a home away from home.

The reason The Don has so many fans—including at least a dozen Don babies—is because of its formidable menu.

However both times the service was disproportionately disorganized and delayed considering how busy the restaurant was. I would return again, but only if I was invited and then only if I was not in a rush.

The staff are always nice, and considering how busy they can get, they're good at keeping things moving along, refilling your coffee, clearing tables quickly for the next guests. My favourite is the Gloms Kuak - just outstanding. I could eat this every morning. They're good at making adjustments, too - they always make my bacon extra crispy :)

The house special don't come with a side anymore you have to pay extra for it. My scrambled eggs where extremely dry as was the sausage. There pierogies is what saved the day. Good prices though.

The pancakes actually had decent flavor but where missing whipped cream (we had to ask). The sausage skillets was terrible. The potato’s were disappointing. The dons special which comes with 6 pieces of meat, eggs, potato, toast and fruit. The potatoes were flavorless the sausage was good and the fruit bowl was old and flavorless. The coffee was actually nice and the service was great.

Nice dark yolks (free range) and butcher cut bacon. If you like local classics I'd give the cabbage borscht a go. I'd have given 5 stars but the owners have been struggling with finding good servers due to the recent situation. But the ever lovely Kori (owner) made it right when there was an issue.

The server were friendly and busy, but the food was delicious. The smoothie was also fresh and sweet. I would like to visit with my family next time.
