The Black Dog is my favourite place for a pint of beer in all of Edmonton. Open from 2PM to 2AM every day of the week, it is home to the most interesting cross-section of patrons one could imagine. The bar tenders are all friendly, honest, and great conversationalists. As a bonus, you can almost always get a pint of beer for $4, and on Sundays, Big Rock pints are only $3.75, which make them the same price as when I was an undergrad! Highly recommended.

Dropped in for a pint with my son, Mark from Victoria. Both of our boys were frequent patrons, with friends in University days.

It was the first time I went out in awhile on Whyte Ave. It was suggested by a friend and I love atmosphere and the crowd. I would definitely go again.

Best venue in town for casual drinks and an amazing wooftop patio. Bring your date, your husband, wife, kids, pastor.. whoever down for a good time.

Great place to visit if looking for the Authentic Whyte ave experience! This bar has been around for ages and shows no sign of slowing down. Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name and Black Dog is that bar.

Still my favourite bar on whyte after all these years. Three floors for three different vibes (though the basement is closed off for obvious reasons). Cool Djs, reasonably priced beers. Patio is chill and fun. Staff is friendly. Usual customers are laidback and friendly. Always recommended for a night out whatever your mood or energy is.

Great great great. Was awesome when I was a young person in the 90s, remains to be identical. Pretty sure even the bartender is the same as when I was 19! Beer is still very well priced Big Rock so the nostalgia for me alone is 5 stars. Playing all the classics from my youth was a trip back in time. Please never change.
