Swinton's Art Supply is Calgary's YYC largest family-owned art supply retail store with materials for artists and five different instructional classrooms.
About Swinton's Art Supplies
Although Ashley's artwork has transitioned immensely over the years, the common thread has been her dedication to aestheticism and balance. Utilizing watercolour techniques with acrylics on canvas she imbues each piece with her high-contrast, low-key aesthetic. The bulk of her work has spiritual undertones, often playing with the dualism of light and dark, and the dichotomy of good and evil.
Presently she works in tandem with The Yamnuska Sanctuary to create and sell artwork reflective of her goal to increase our understanding and spiritual connection to dogs and wolves.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not an overly large place but it had a good selection of supplies. Several studio spaces in the back for classes and an art gallery on the walls of the hallway of the studios. That was a very nice touch. The lady at the desk was very helpful. I asked her about two different kinds of Liquin. She was very knowledgeable and kind.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome art supply store and very friendly staff. I didn't need much help, but the man working, I think his name was Cameron(?), was very pleasant and sounded knowledgeable while helping other customers.
Will definitely return for more supplies as I need them! Definitely better service and selection than other supply stores in the city.

I was looking for beginner art supplies and lessons as a gift. Shout out to Rion who helped me feel welcome right away. After asking me all the right questions, he helped me put together the perfect gift set. I left with better quality supplies than what I had been shown at another store, and felt I was offered a great price. Thanks to the Team at Swinton’s Art!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There was an open / broken can of solvent which I picked up to check the ingredients (ironically being mindful of toxins) and the solvent spilled all over my shoes. I washed my hands when I got home but hours later I had a significantly burnt hand (my whole hand was extremely red, swollen, itchy, even cuts on my skin) leading to me having to Google to see how serious this was. Having let the store know, they chose to completely ignore my message. This review is not just because of the fact that I received chemical burns and ruined shoes while shopping in this store but more to do with the complete lack of acknowledgement and apology when I let them know. I definitely won’t be shopping here again!
