Upon summit heights opening, I was very impressed with the layout of the building and the kind residents within. It’s sad that after a month of the residence coming together, that their is now so much falling apart. The only proud thing I can elaborate on is the delightful food produced and kindness from head chef Ross Mathews. One star for him! Communication brought down from the nursing team regarding negative relationships with managers within the building is extremely sad to hear.

My wife and I are so glad we made the move to Summit Heights. The staff from housekeeping to dietary and all office staff are great people to communicate with and solve any concern we had. The dining room staff are busy bees working to keep all happy and fed. You won’t be disappointed when you move in, highly recommended.

My mother in law was a resident in the Assisted Care section of Summit Heights from October to March. We had to get her out of there, as they were unable to give her the palliative care she needed. The staff on the 4th floor were compationate and did their best within their limitations. To my knowledge there are no Registered Nurses in the building, and the PSWs and PRNs did the best they could within there limitations. The management (Leslie Watson), was cold, rude and did not do what she promised to regarding care for my Mother in law. The doctor did not appear to be familiar with palliative care needs. It was left to the family to get medical supplies needed to administer medications. At one point our family was told we would have to supply 24 hour around the clock care to administrate the medication she needed. The doctor did not even visit my mother in law when the nurse requested him to. Thanks to the Palliative nurse who came in from Bayshore and recognized the lack of care my mother in law was receiving and facilitated the transfer to a capable facility where my mother in law will spend her final days. It was horrible watching a loved one suffer in so much pain while at Summit Heights. Now, with proper medical care and a very knowledgeable doctor, my mother in law is peaceful.

Beautiful building, down to earth and friendly residents. Summit Heights would have been my 1st choice for mom & dad until we saw how the leadership was. The lady who was behind the receptionist (Emily) I believe, was so unfriendly and her attitude towards some residents baffled my mind. It wasn't long after I was informed she was the Executive Director. I toured with Cinda who was great and almost had my decision turned back around until I saw the Executive Director again walking down the hall this time with another lady. They barely moved for us, let alone gave any eye contact. When touring we noticed residents enjoying the activities and the calendar looked great. The outgoing Activity Manager was very welcoming and even offered us a delicious milkshake. Unfortunately, we cant shake the feeling of the "captain" running the ship and have decided to move on. I hope things look up for Summit Heights.

It has been a difficult time making the decision to move my father into long-term care however it was 100% the right decision. Having the option to move my dad into Summit Heights made the decision a lot easier as the care here is exceptional. From senior management (Leslie and Cinda) to the nurses and PSWs who are caring for my dad- they have all been truly caring, compassionate and thoughtful. The caregiver burden on my mom has greatly been lifted since my dad was moved into Summit Heights and the nice thing is that my mom will soon be moving into the Independent Care side of Summit Heights (only a short 2-minute walk from my dad). The food has been excellent – my mom is over the moon about not having to cook anymore. They have so many activities at this facility – my mom is really excited to play in the Euchre club and take my dad to the in-house cinema. They even have a salon that just opened. We no longer have to take my dad out to get his hair cut (very stressful) as he can literally take an elevator downstairs and be at the salon! Overall, I cannot say enough good things about Summit Heights. I would HIGHLY recommend Summit Heights for loved ones whether they need a lot of care or are independent seniors.

I am not one to comment on these sites but upon seeing the recent post I just felt compelled to provide my perspective. It saddens me that someone would give 1 star based on a walk by of the director. My mother is one of the first residents to move into Summit Heights. Since the first meeting with Lesley the executive director when we reserved her suite to today, I am overwhelmed with the dedication of the director and the staff. Whenever a new facility opens there is bound to be a period of adjustment and change; not to mention the delays due to COVID in the opening itself. The amount of balls this person must juggle is mind boggling and one never knows what could be happening at any given moment in time. The list is endless as to why this facility is the best place for seniors which is evidenced by the number of residents that have moved here from other seniors homes. I live four hours away and knowing that my mother is in the care of Lesley, Cinda, Debbie and Kelly give me the peace in my heart that she will be safe, cared for, respected and her life will be enriched with social and engaging activities, and open and respectful home and healthy lifestyle. My 84 year old mother, recently widowed, has gone from living alone and watching TV and hardly eating, to a life that is THRIVING. She doesn't tell people this is where she lives; but that this is her home. Don't think twice; this is THE BEST place for seniors.
