β β β β β I was born and raised in Winnipeg, and discovered this little gem about 15 years ago. Since moving away from Winnipeg 6 years ago, I make sure to book flights 'back home' that land when the Sumhay is OPEN!!! Crispy ginger beef, delux wonton soup, sizzling plate of shrimp with a black bean sauce, and their Singapore noodles are all - in my opinion - among the finest dishes in the country!! I have not had anything from their menu that was anything less than excellent! The decor and location are not ideal, but the food is worth it.

β β β β β One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the city. If you are looking for a great dish to try, go for the Ginger Beef. Absolutely amazing.
I havent had a bad experience yet. Friendly staff, quick service, tasty food and available for delivery on SkipTheDishes.
Can't beat Sumhay!

β β β β β Best hot and sour soup I have had. Staff has been friendly the 3 times we went and were willing to make adjustments to the menu for us. Chicken balls have a lot of meat to them. Fried rice is tasty. Prices are good for what you get. Dry ribs are average.

β β β β β I recently visit, very pleasant. It's very interesting place, the exterior bares no resemblance inside, which is quite nice and spacious. I only had a bowel the medium deluxe won ton soup, which was very good. I also ordered an order pork and cabbage dumplings. They were quite good, but a little pricey. It was suppose to come with a corn congee, but I forgot to remind them to bring it out. The service was excellent and very helpful. I will be back to try some other dishes.

β β β β β We are Chinese food lovers and will order at least once a month from our regular place. After wanting something new and seeing Sumhay here, we decided to give it a try.
I am not usually someone to write a review, but we were completely blown away by the quality of ingredients, taste, portion sizes, and customer service! Pictures are after 3 hungry adults have eaten - we couldn't wait to eat it! Tons of leftovers (and I'm not upset about it).. definitely nothing left on the plates ?
A photo of our order is included, and EVERYTHING was fantastic! I HIGHLY recommend the sizzling beef and the Cantonese chow mein!
Give them a try - you won't regret it!

β β β β β Favourite spot in Chinatown, my go-to soup spot, love that they chop rotisserie chicken and throw it in the soup! Food is always amazing and owners very nice. The breaded dry veal is unmatched, a must try and very different than anywhere else Iβve had in Winnipeg.
Canβt wait to try the new dumplings made from scratch to order at the new dumpling counter!
