★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good place to start the hike on the skagit River trail. It is about 2 hours from Vancouver. The entire trail is about 15 km one way. If you just want a day trip, it is best to go to 28 Mike creek bridge which is 2.5 hours each way or 9.5 KM, then turn around to return to where you started. Near the beginning there is an old mine, waterfall and a rusted old truck. Currently, the trail is need of maintenance with many fallen trees, a couple of rock slides and burnt trees from 2018. It is not too difficult to follow trail. Did this trail again in May 2021 and is possible to do it despite being officially closed so not that busy. The parking at sumallo Grove is closed so park beside gate. May to June is good time to visit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Gate is closed in the winter so you'll have to park along road. Beautiful spot to enjoy nature and access the river. If you feel like a longer walk you can connect to an old mining site, travel to the Delacy backcountry campsite or continue all the way to Silver-Skagit Road all the way along the Skagit River Trail.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful walk on a mostly flat trail. There's an interesting detour where you can get a glimpse of a waterfall and an old rusted-out pickup.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice easy snowshoe/hike and some interesting stops. Old truck, cabin, waterfall, creek, huge trees. Nice family walk for all ages.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful area with a few nice areas to dip into the river right near the parking lot. The steel bridge over the Skagit River is really cool further down. 2 switchbacks up an off trail takes you to an old mine and beautiful falls. You really feel how small you are in nature here at times.
