Straight Arrow Roofing

Straight Arrow Roofing was a great experience from start to finish. Joel was professional and went above and beyond in both preparing me for what was to happen as well as during clean up. My driveway was left cleaner than when they started (truthfully, cleaner than it's ever been). Process was straight forward. Quote and Package were nicely prepared in a timely manner - his team showed up prepared and ready to work. If anyone brings up in conversation that they need a roof I will be recommending Joel and Straight Arrow Roofing in a heartbeat.

Joel came out rapidly to do my emergency repair, that was causing a lot of damage into my parents home. Then he proceeded to give us a very competitive price, for a total insulation on my roof. He was very knowledgeable and coached me step by step throughout the roofing process. Joel showed me lots of photos and explained everything to me. Glad I found such a gem of a company!

After he inspected it he informed us that we in fact needed a new roof. He was professional, and well priced, he gave us a quote and was able to fit us in promptly. STRAIGHT ARROW ROOFING - First off, I don't take calling out a business lightly. No one is perfect and all attempts should be made to remedy a bad situation in private. However, I tried for almost a year to have this resolved and in light of my experience, I need to warn anyone here who has used Straight Arrow Roofing in the recent past. I picked Straight Arrow Roofing to do my roof back in September 2019 because Joel Guerra (owner) came across as professional and explained all of the critical little details that a lot of other roofers may not pay attention to. He came with good reviews, was also a certified GAF Shingle installer and his quote was in line with well-known roofers in the area. I had some initial concerns that the shingles hadn't settled down flat once the job was complete but Joel reassured me that this would occur in a few days, although they never fully did. This past winter I noticed a leak in my soffit and contacted Joel. Upon further inspection I noticed that there were a large number of low/crooked nails popping up the shingles in other parts of the roof that needed to be addressed. Joel assured me many times that he would have it corrected, but days turned into weeks and then months. I accommodated his busy schedule and let him pick a time that worked best for him but unfortunately, he strung me along for the better part of a year and dismissed the popped shingles as "normal". I didn't understand the severity of the problem until late-summer when I inspected the attic and found evidence of staining and small leaks in multiple places. The first snowfall this year confirmed the leaks again with some drywall staining, wet insulation and roof deck staining in the attic. Since then, I have heard almost nothing back from Joel. He inactivated his business in July of this year, but continued to take on new work while failing to address the defects his crew caused. The majority of the roof was installed poorly - hundreds of nails are crooked and popping up through the shingles causing leaks. I am out $10K and there is nothing that can be done to fix this roof - it has to be torn out and replaced. I have never seen a nailing job that bad. Had I known he had no intention of fixing the issues, I would have hired someone else to replace the roof before the winter. Now it's too late and I had to take some temporary measures to prevent further damage to my home for the winter. As you can see in the pictures, I have had to patch hundreds of shingles over the past week - nails are either low, or crooked and cutting through the top of the shingle. His crew also proceeded to shingle over a vent opening and the shingles are visibly sagging through that opening. So, if you have recently had Straight Arrow Roofing, please get up on the roof and inspect the work! I understand things happen and I was very accommodating, but at the end of the day a business should not only be measured by the good work they do, but how issues - which inevitably will come up - are dealt with. In my case I drew the short straw and am out almost $10K plus another brand-new roof that I will need to put up next year. My disappointment with Joel Guerra @ Straight Arrow Roofing is an understatement to say the least.
