★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I come here once a year with my family and have a wonderful time. Don is a gracious host. The cottages are well maintained and clean. There are plenty of activities beyond thoughtful contemplation such as hiking and fishing. The lake is great for flat water kayaking too. It's very worthwhile to add the retreat to your itinerary.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It’s definitely a life changing experience spending the weekend here at the Maximilian retreat house.
The cabins were really well constructed by Don with his own hands. The house is nice and cozy. Don is also very knowledgeable in construction in terms of structure, electrical and etc. I’m really impressed by how he architects the house and the whole system. He showed us a lot of useful tips in construction.
It’s also a spiritual retreat. Don shared a lot of life experience and gave us a lot of good advice in career and in life. I’m really impressed by Don’s knowledge, life philosophy and his wisdom.
The trip is also really well organized. We went fishing twice in different areas of the lake. Don and his children gave us a lot of insight into fishing and the local ecosystem. Don took us for a walk around the community. It’s quiet and peaceful. It is so healing, relaxing atmosphere and pleasant that I would recommend to everyone.
I really appreciate this opportunity meeting Don and new friends here at Maximilian retreat house. Many thanks to Don organizing this trip and sharing his wisdom with us.

He organizes boating trips and hikes for his guest. I have made many friends and new connections here. Going to the retreat house allows me to escape the busy city life and refocus on my life goals. 5 STARS!!!

There were close to 15 of us and It was a great time to reconnect with each other and with God's creation. We hiked, canoed, went fishing and just enjoyed the quietness. Thanks to Donald and his son Wesley for hosting and being our guides to the area. It was truly a blessed visit with wonderful memories.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a great and joyous visit at St. Maximilian retreat. The facility is very clean and well maintained. The host explained in great details how to use the cottage / cabins. We used the website to find out where to visit near by farmers markets and flea markets. We went to the Callaghan Rapids nearby and had a lot of fun! We recommend this retreat. Visitors will be blessed by joyful and happy memories during their stay.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Spending summer weekends at St. Maximillian is the sweetest memory of my family, especially for my 6-year-old daughter who enjoys swimming, fishing, crayfish-hunting, making a campfire, among a lot of other fun activities. The facilities at the retreat house are clean, well-organized, and convenient to use.
Donald and his family are the best hosts we’ve met. They showed us around to nearby towns, hiking trails, and places with a history that is not known to many people. We also enjoyed countless conversations with them, talking about their experience of hand-building the retreat house from scratch and sharing our Catholic faith. Blessed visits!
