About Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre

There are obviously many specifics that will continue to be worked out with our youth sports groups. I remind everyone of the fluid nature of the situation and to be prepared for change. We also recognize that SLSFSC is committing to a different interpretation of guidance than perhaps other recreation facilities (at this current time). Therefore, we must also acknowledge there is a risk that we are provided guidance (or further restrictive changes) that reverts our path. We are not given the luxury of time to make some decisions; therefore, for the time being, and for the sake of supporting significant youth programming already in session, supporting the framework and spirit of the intentions of REP, we will forge ahead on this chosen path.

While my family loved the aquatic staff and the pool at Spray Lakes, we had a bad experience with a staff member when leaving. It was -30 outside, so my toddler and four year old were playing and being loud in between the entryway doors while we waited for the car to be pulled around. Although I was standing close and clearly their parent, a male staff member brushed past me (standing a few feet from my kids) and told them to stop. I was not comfortable with him speaking to my kids when I was right there, so I approached him and asked that if he would like my kids to stop doing something, I would like him to speak with me and I will deal with their behaviour. Rather than respecting what I had asked, he argued that it was his job to keep the facility peaceful for their customers. I had to reiterate again that β€œif he has an issue with a kid, talk to the parent”. After staring me down aggressively for several awkward moments (a bald 50-something male to a young mom holding a baby on her hip), he sullenly agreed to speak with me first next time and then proceeded to laugh about it loudly with another employee as I left. Not only was his aggressive behaviour unsettling and rude, but he also made the experience feel very negative and the opposite of family friendly. I have no problem asking my kids to be quiet if facilities feels they are being disruptive. However, the way I was spoken to and my children were treated at Spray Lakes left a very bad taste in my mouth.

We have been here a few times and love the pool. Very family friendly cost wise. Kids love the water slides and lazy river. Lots of staff who are very friendly and helpful.

Great place. I was there for lane swim in the pool. Eight lanes, the water was a cool temp for distance swim, and clear. Pre and post swim in the hot tub where I do all-over muscle stretching. A good visit. Would come again.

Recently signed up for a membership, went to my first class "Active Forever" and am super pleased. Curtis, the coach, was a hoot, respectful but demanding, with lots of demos and much needed corrections. The sport centre is clean, well outfitted and offers everything you could possibly wish for!

Sadly they spent no money on the design, so it looks pretty industrial, inside standard super rec centre amenities. The gym is marked for multi games which adds flexibility. Had they spent .5% more on an architect with some imagination i would rate it a 8 out of 10, but I knocked it down to a 6.

This place is always sparkling clean. We play in the turf and gyms, which are well maintained. The swimming pool area is fun, with a cool lap pool, a warmer wave pool, an even warmer therapy pool (not for families to play in, solely for exercise), and a hot tub (which is typically 40Β°). The slides, lazy river, and water features are fun for the younger set. Staff are friendly and welcoming. You currently need to enter through the main doors, not the turf doors, because the screening station is there.

The most family friendly, affordable sports centre I have experienced. There is something for all ages. The child minding staff is always amazing and truly seem to love the kids. Plus the monthly fee for childcare is incredibly affordable, especially for multi kid families. The group classes never disappoint but my personal favourite is extreme boot camp with Steph. She is a truly amazing fitness instructor who doesn’t judge, only supports your fitness goals whatever they may be. You really won’t be disappointed with a membership here if you enjoy year round fitness activities for you and your kids.
