Soufrière Kid's Development

I give it a 1 star because I am unable to give zero stars. I've encountered a couple of things here which I am not happy about which includes the daycare keeping $156 of my hard earned money...beware when it comes to your money and management. I've also experienced the staff arguing and having a shouting match in front of the kids. There is ALWAYS new staff (tell tell sign of badly managed daycare). No one was ever there to pick up my 4 year old from the bus stop after school. Other things as well that I should have reported but I was not smart about a lot of things. You live and you learn. I enrolled my child at a french school ecole marion and he was speaking french quickly.

While I understand that this is a business, but the management is all about money. The people who work for them are great. But management has a harsh and confrontational tone if God forbid you want to change days or not take the kids one day at all. They will hunt you down and make sure that you know "YOU STILL HAVE TO PAY". You call them as courtesy to tell them one day your kid is sick and they cant make it. The first thing you'll hear is a loud and confrontational voice telling you "YOU KNOW YOU STILL HAVE TO PAY". For a child care center it's an absolute disappointment. Not only that their summer program sucks. My kids used to come home every day bored out of their minds. Spend a little bit more and get your kids to a better place.

My son has been here for two years and thus far it's been a great experience. The staff is awesome and I truly love the owner. My son is learning so much and I'm pleased with his development. Is would definitely recommend this day care to others.

SKD is such an amazing daycare , I was a bit reluctant at first in putting my child in day care but when I went to skd the staff were so inviting and made me feel like I had nothing to worry about . Our daughter has picked up the French very fast and they do emphasize on learning. Great day care

**KEPT MY MONEY AS WELL** I registered my daughter for the Toddler program at the new Oshawa McLaughlin location and they processed my credit card for $250. Few issues that have happened along the way but I'll focus on the main one. A few days before she was suppose to start *but wouldn't have because there was a delay in them getting their licensing* I sent an email to ask who would be her teacher and how many other kids in her class. They responded that she will actually be put into the Junior class room (kids aged 2.5 to 4 years old). I called them right away to see why nobody had advised me prior. I was to show up the day of and find out she would be with older kids. It's not just the fact of older kids but it is the teacher student ratio. In the toddler room they have 1:5 ratio. In the Junior room they have a 1:8 ratio. Now my daughter would be with a lot more older kids tougher than her and she would have less help from a teacher. I did not feel comfortable with that. They were also not going to change the fee that I had to pay. I was still going to have to pay the higher toddler rate even though the teacher ratio was lower. The other kids in the Junior room would be paying less in the exact same class with the exact same attention. This made no sense to me. I explained that my husband and I didn't feel comfortable and we would be pulling her from SKD until there was a separate toddler room available for her. I asked for my $200 ($50 was a non refundable fee) refund back and have been told "In consultation with my executive director, no refund will be issued " I find the school to be very unprofessional. They did not have the correct class for my daughter and now I am being punished. Poor ethics on SKD's part. If you cannot provide the classroom, you should refund their money

I absolutely can not say enough good things about this day care. The staff is so kind and compassionate, my son is ALWAYS happy, and rested and excited about what he learned when I pick him up everyday which warms my heart. The homemade meals they fix onsite for the kids are so cute, healthy and well balanced. Inside is a SUPER clean, spacious and organized place with. Thank you SKD for making this a wonderful experience #GratefulMom

My Daughter has been going at SKD main for a little while now. I am a first time Mom and of course I was skeptical about daycare, but I knew she needed the experience and learning so I tried them out. My daughter has learned so much within the span of 6 months, and she has learned a whole other language "FRENCH" . That is one of the main reason we chose SKD because it is French Bilingual, some daycares require one parent at least much know or speak French, but with SKD there were no issues. The staff is amazing and my daughter loves it. I love the relationship we have been able to establish with management, they really take their time to understand each individual needs. My daughter is happy and I am so happy to be a part of the SKD Family.

My children have been at SKD for about 6 years. We transferred them from another child-care centre and noticed an immediate difference in the way our children were cared for. The staff are warm and loving. They take genuine interest in the kids and there are always things that they go over and beyond with. As the kids have been in the bilingual programs, the teachers there have been so willing to help with French school work. They learn to bake in cooking club and have teachers who genuinely connect with the kids. My kids love going to daycare! So much so that it can be a challenge getting them to come home at the end of the day. They always want more time! We also love the diversity that exists within the staff and children. It is important for our children to learn from people of different ethnicities! Thank you SKD
