As a student I would NOT suggest living here. Management is terrible and rude (tried ripping off my roommates and I on multiple occasions). Garbage chutes are never working and parking is a disaster. Don't live here unless you want to be treated poorly and taken advantage of as a student!

Do NOT rent a room at Solstice, from the outside it looks like a nice establishment but the management and upkeep of the building is well below par. There are many problems with the quality of the building itself. It seems to be falling apart at the seems and constantly under renovation despite a distinct lack of progress. When I was touring the building I was told that they were constructing a gym that would be finished in late 2017, however, by the end of my lease in April of 2018, there was no gym to be found. This is only a microcosm of the lack of professionalism within the company. If, for whatever reason, you do decide to sign with Solstice PLEASE read the lease carefully. They have an auto renewal process on your lease that they will never mention to you during the leasing process. They will send you one message to the email provided, and if you do not respond within a certain time frame they will charge you for a full year's worth of rent. I was unaware of this, and fell victim to it after I automatically set the building's email to my spam folder due to a large volume of emails during the year. Rent elsewhere, if you are a student looking for housing this is the worst place you could choose.

Do not live here if you value your sanity. The fire alarm constantly goes off and then won't turn off for hours. Had so many issues contacting the management, they have at least 5 different emails and don't make it apparent which should be used. They then claimed I never emailed them and charged me a NSF fee when they didn't inform me that my payment didn't go through. Also told me I couldn't get any of my receipts until the following year and so I had to bring my father into the situation and all of a sudden it was possible to get my rent receipts. They just are trying to make money off of students and don't take their residents seriously. Wouldn't recommend living here to anyone, you'll just end up wasting your money and time.

I would highly recommend not living here. The fire alarms go off multiple times a month or multiple times a day, you can hear your neighbours and the people living above you quite clearly, my floor usually smelled of weed and cigarettes, the garbage chute was down most of the time so the garbage room would fill up with garbage, so much so that you could not open the door at times and my ceiling leaked from October to February before someone decided to come and fix it despite multiple emails between myself, my landlords and the front desk. I found that the company that runs the building to be extremely disorganized, the only positive I have is that the common areas and hallways were kept clean.

If I could rate this place as zero stars, I would! Management is constantly changing. If you have an issue that needs resolving, don't expect a quick response. There’s also no manager to be found on the property during normal office hours. The people that answer the line that’s provided are extremely rude. They also expected me to pay $300 to get my room door unlocked while I still had access to my actual apartment. The guy showed up with a rusty crow bar and PRIED open the door, despite me having gave them an extra key. They claimed there was no key ever provided and were threatening to fine me for a fire hazard. People were always parking in my spot (that I paid for). Management did absolutely nothing about this. During the winter, the parking lot was not properly de-iced or shovelled. I fell on several occasions. The stairwells were absolutely disgusting. Urine, vomit, broken beer bottles and suspicious articles of clothing were regular finds on Monday mornings. Elevators were slow and regularly out of order. Vomit, clothing and fluids could also be found here. The walls are extremely thin, so you can here all the drunken shenanigans from the suites around yours, as well as in the hallway. Odours such as weed and rotting garbage also travel quickly. What made my stay here even worse were the fire alarms. Don’t expect to get a good night sleep here! They went off in the early hours of the morning and remained on for over an hour each time. Some mornings, they went off several times (we're talking weekdays here). The only thing that can't be disputed is the new appliances. For a new building, this should be expected. Bottom line: if you move here, don’t expect much. Make sure you document any interaction with management and take down names. You’d be better off staying on dorm or renting a house with a few roommates!

I moved here this year and I really love living here. It’s so easy to get rid of your trash and having your own washroom is a big advantage. Also it’s so easy to access the building and the heater and the vents and everything works nice. The study rooms in each floor are also a big advantage. It’s been 2 months of living here and I haven’t seen any downsides of it. Hopefully it will go on like this.

I made a google account JUST to write a review on this place for the sake of other students. Living here for two years all I have experienced is corruption and the exploitation of students. First, solstice has a major garbage issue. My roommates and I were fined over $100 because we had no choice but to leave our garbage on the floor of the garbage room (explicitly states in the lease agreement to NOT leave garbage in the unit), so we had no other choice but to add to the pile already in there. The parking situation is a disaster. A representative from Solstice had an issue with my roommates sublet and a new roommate moving into the unit. Rather than handling it like adults, the front desk woman in Solstice 2 called me and aggressively yelled at me. When I tried to explain that it was not my sublet, she said "its still your problem and you will have to pay for the mess the left." I ended up hanging up on her because of how unprofessional she was. (no one ended up paying anything) Finally, my deposit cheque took four months to get to me and I was required to pay a $12 fee because they lost my $200 cheque in the mail. They genuinely believe students are dumb enough to pay all their ridiculous fines. If you plan on living here, I seriously advise you to just go to somewhere else. Its not worth it, the management brought on so much unnecessary stress to my roommates and I. They will try to take advantage of you and are extremely unprofessional.

So awful. Walls are very thin so any noise in the hallway sounds like it is inside the apartment. You pay $600 for a parking spot that other people take and nothing is done about it. My car had food thrown onto it from the apartments above. No one in the building has respect for the other tenants. If you want to party every night then this is the place for you.
