My partner and I were here yesterday shopping for groceries and we were told they have rapid tests available in the customer service area/aka the cigarette store… well I went into the little shop I didn’t even get the finish my sentence and the older lady started shaking her head no and smiling at me… I have worked in customer service for over 12 years you DO NOT cut off a customer from speaking especially when I didn’t even get to finish my sentence! EXTREMELY disrespectful and unprofessional! Disgusting

Unacceptable experience on Monday for my mother. When purchasing a large package of ground beef, she places it on the conveyor belt only for it to get stuck and rip the package open. When my mother asked if she could go get a new one, the lady at the till replied that the bags were clean and proceeded to put the meat vertically into the bag causing a good amount of it to spill into the bag. With people behind her, my mother was disappointed but didn't want to hold up the line. This is unacceptable customer service from anyone. She has been a long time shopper at Smylies Independent and knows the owner from his generous contributions in the community in the past, but I cannot believe this is the standard of customer service for some of the employees. I attached a photo of it when it got home...and while yes she was able to move it into a freezer bag, she is still very frustrated with her experience.

My husband and I visited the garden center. What a lovely choice of plants and seeds to discover. The cashier was most helpful. We found a tomato plant already planted in large pot with plastic trellis for the plant to crawl up to.

Have always loved this grocery store. It's super clean. The staff are nice. There is a great selection of items and produce. Owner does a lot in the community and there is a feeling of hometown pride in this store.

Lovely staff. Especially the hot foods girls they are such a treat every time I see their lovely little faces working away in there. Thanks for the hottest of foods! No matter the time or day! Love you!

Clean and organized. Strangely tired in the overall look and feel. Staff are bored, fresh foods are minimal with empty bins.

As a seasoned PC Express customer, since they first started offering the service, I won't use it again. While paying a premium for the service, they don't offer premium service. Why call and advise of substitutions with the option to have them removed, to still give them to me and charge me for them when I said no thank you? Why not automatically offer the lower price between original and substituted item, why do I have to ask and then I still do not receive it? (Which is "guaranteed" by Independent if a substitution is made) Why have items been charged to me, yet have not been in my bag? Why, when I call immediately upon getting home, reviewing the receipt and noting I was charged for items I did not receive, do I call and find out that a bag was missed? Why do I then have to wait five business days for a refund and then still have to call again to remind them of the refund? Why, after I put in the comment section to use my PC points, then remind the staff when they call about my order to use my PC points, are they NOT used, and when I call prior to pickup to ask that they be used, YET AGAIN, I am told they cannot do that and a manager will call me tomorrow. I do not have the order, it is still in your hands-why can you not cancel it and re-process using my PC points? I am a patient person, and have been understanding during Covid and have continued to use the service, even though the prices at Independent are abhorrent, because the employees are friendly and kind, and Smylie's is locally owned and they do a lot for our community. But enough is enough. One can only be a patient and understanding customer for so long.

It's just like every other Independent Grocer: higher prices than your no frills type of stores yet a better selection. I go for unique items and sale items and that's all. I'm not wealthy enough to do a full grocery shop here. **Like my review**
