June 7 Β· 2016 I would give no stars if I could, I would not recommend this clinic to my worst enemy! and advise you to seriously take caution if you decide to use this vet. I don't want any other animal to be hurt during basic care like my bunny. Dr. Doran from Slate River Vet. paralyzed my rabbit last evening on Mon June 6, 2016 at around 4:00PM. It all started out with Odin (2yr old holland lop dwarf rabbit) was having problems with his teeth. Odin had a malocclusion which means his front teeth grew abnormally long and needed to be trimmed. Trimming teeth is not a big procedure and some rabbits need to get it done every few weeks. well Odin got his exam and I thought they were pretty good with holding him. There was Dr. Doran, 2 students and a nurse in the exam room. they held him correct the times i seen. After his exam Dr. Doran said she wanted to do his teeth today after her next appointment, so I reluctantly agreed as i had to borrow money for the procedure. He was having troubles eating so I thought I was doing what was best for my rabbit. I left Odin there while I drove back to town to pick up some money, I didn't want to leave him but I would've been in the waiting room anyways. Before I left they informed me that if anything wasn't going right or if he was fighting the mask to hard they would stop what the procedure. They called me at 4:19PM and said Odin was done and everything went great... Lies. I walked in the door at exactly 4:59PM I waited around for 15 mins before i was taken into a consult room and told everything went amazing. His back teeth are good, they trimmed his teeth as short as possible, make sure he's eating, watch his poop, blah blah blah. I pay and they bring Odin to me and my husband. He was still groggy but he was asleep on his back, something we have never seen him do before and he jumped jump when he heard me and started dragging his back legs around the carrier! I thought that he was just taking the anesthetic rough.. We got home and I put him in his cage noticing his back legs were limp and set him down. He tried to walk at this point but his bum and back legs were limp and he was dragging his back end with his front legs trying to figure out whats going on. He then sat down and tried to bite his back leg a few times, which I had to stop because he can't feel them. I let him relax for another couple hours but he didn't move, So I put him in a carrier and bottle fed him water ect. till I could call Dr Doran in the morning. at 12:32PM on TUES JUN 7. I finally get a call back from Dr. Doran. She didn't own up to anything and denied the fact that they did this to him and tried to say it wasn't her fault because she "went over the precautions" and she "didn't physically hear his back brake"... At Odin's Appointment She did not mention a thing about paralyzing my rabbit nor did I think a Vet would be so rough with my rabbit or let him get that scared that he would break his own back. Now I understand this does happen, but I know my rabbit! and he has kicked off hard numerous times before and never had an issue!.. so what happened to him in the 2 hours Slate River Vets cared for him why he is now paralyzed after a basic, common teeth trim!? Odin is now completely paralyzed from the waist down and requires special care round the clock. I have to express his bladder (make him pee) every few hours, as well as wiping his bum and feeding him. he is now an infant. Please take caution and pay the extra money to go elsewhere its worth it.
