Silver Sand Resort

I spend three days at the resort, including meals, the owner made us feel right at home. Abundant and great selection of food for breakfast and dinner that we skipped lunches. :) A place to came back.

Will let you know long drive for me ..up date, I'm hooked , best ever 3 times 3 different meals. Every one is by far best ever ..fish and chips amazing .cheers

I had the opportunity to visit this resort in early June with a small group of motorcycle friends. We stayed two nights and it was unbelievable. The food was fabulous with ample selection to please everyone. Breakfast consisted of homemade strudel, bacon, eggs, omelettes, bagels, and dinners were Chicken kebabs Grilled vegetables, salads and more. The rooms were comfortable with a small fridge, 2 double beds, and lots of hot water. The beach was a very close walk and as promised, it offers a sandy bottom that would be great for children and safe. Bring bug spray for the evening fires.

I did not stop and stay at the resort but stopped by the restaurant on site for breakfast and all I can say all the staff were very polite and courteous. Breakfast was good and filling, if you like alot of food get the big breaky( yay, and a place that knows how to cook an egg to order.) The restaurant was DJ's but as I am writing this, we were talking to the waitress and she let us know they will no longer be there after this week, as of October 2nd they will be located at the legion. So if you are ever in the area of Kearney and good friendly service with good food check this place out. It was a good stop for the start of a good atv ride.

We stayed at Silver Sand Resort for three days in August for an ATV trip. We booked a motel room for two. The booking and check-in were very quick and easy. There were about six walkout basement rooms in the main building underneath the restaurant. When we parked at our room where we were greeted with the smell of garbage. Later we found the garbage drop off area was quite close to the rooms. In the heat of the day, the smell was very noticeable. The parking area was littered with little bits of garbage and across from the parking lot was a pile of wood debris and mixed garbage piled up which we understand was the old garbage drop off area that had not been cleaned up. Our room had two double beds, one tiny night stand a large bar fridge and cabinet with drawers. The beds were very comfortable and clean. There was a coat hook mounted beside the main door and a clothes hanger with about ten mismatched hangers. The bathroom had a small vanity, toilet and tub with shower. There was no sitting area, no chairs, no dresser or any other furnishings. The room was reasonably clean, except for the headboards and lamp which were quite dusty and under/behind the bed which needed cleaned. The only smoke detector in the room had been removed, which was concerning given the room sits under a commercial kitchen. The TV had a Bell receiver, which got no channels. There is no phone, no clock and there is no Wi-Fi, even though it is advertised as having it on different websites, including this one. We e-mailed the resort during our stay to inquire about the tv and Wi-Fi, but nobody bothered to return our message. We asked the next morning and were told neither were offered. Why is there a tv in the room if there is no service? The BBQ had no propane and there were no glasses or other kitchen type amenities. We called and asked specifically about a coffee maker before our stay and were told there was one, so that was very frustrating. The weather was very hot a humid during our stay and we were shocked to find out there is no air conditioning and the room had no thermostat to control the temperature. In fact, aside from a ventilation fan in the bathroom, there was no sign of heating, ventilation or air conditioning at all, although there was a ceiling fan. The room had a crank window, which didn't work, so we left the door open for air until the bugs migrated in. The second night we were so hot that we played around with the window until we finally got it to open. The beach area was nice and you could walk out quite a ways which would be fabulous for kids. There was a nice looking playground and a beach volleyball area at the water. For a "resort", the amenities were pretty limited. We had dinner at the restaurant which was good. It is managed separately from the resort, so I'll give it a separate review. Overall our stay was pleasant as we were out on the trails all day. While I can't speak to the cabins or camping, I would not recommend the motel rooms. I think there are better options in the area. It is really too bad as there is so much potential here.

If you want the owner to steal your money and then accuse you of scamming them go ahead and book here. When I called and booked the reservation, it was a great interaction, and I thought we had a great place to stay for my friends wedding weekend. I was so wrong. After driving 4 hours to get there we were told that there was no reservation booked even though I had a confirmation email and I showed them the money came off my visa. They told me they would refund my money and give a 2 nights stay next time we visit. Which was a great solution. Our friends had an extra bed in there cabin so we stayed with them. A week later I checked and no refund had been issued. I gave them a call and the owner started to accuse me of scamming them and refused to issue a refund so now I'm out the money. Terrible customer service don't waste your time, energy or money on this place.

Awesome place manager Ryan very helpful & got to meet the owner nick, great guy we will be staying more often.

Stayed here while snowmobiling on the night of Feb 11, 2022. We could not find anything else in the area as it was all booked up. Owner Nick was very accommodating and offered us a Park Model trailer, gave us his personal cell number for when we arrived and called us back to ensure everything was good. Manager Ryan was also amazing and checked on us, brought us over anything we asked for and really made us feel welcomed and settled in. It was a great experience. Looking forward to returning and having the restaurant open. Great service.
