Shelter Cocktail Bar - Calgary

THE BEST DRINKS IN TOWN! Went here the other day expecting some good drinks and cool photos and left with a new favorite in Calgary. The service and expertise was as incredible as the cocktails. A MUST if you enjoy cocktails!!

Nice cocktail lounge with good music, but low enough volume that you can still talk with ease. Drinks are pretty tasty.

Incredible, incredible, incredible! What a find! We went on the recommendation of friends, and honestly, the place would've been difficult to find otherwise. There's no obvious signage, the entrance was nondescript (there was a signature gas mask above, but it was easy to miss), but the numbered address matched what our phones listed. It's beside an Anytime Fitness, and directly across from Ten Foot Henry and A1 Bodega. First, what a theme to centre a cocktail bar around! Everyone else is busy pursuing a classy, old time charm vibe, warm rustic, industrial, or modern fusion with a twist, but these guys decided apocalyptic shelter was the way to go. Such a cool, comfortable space, and what a way to separate themselves from the crowd! Most importantly, their drinks are solid. Exceptionally creative, with an exquisite balance of flavours. We were happy to stay entirely too long, and tried far too many drinks! Our tastes run less towards the dark and boozy, so your mileage may vary, but I have to recommend the Big Nick Energy, Sunset Park, Okame, and Purple Eggs and Yam. The last two were especially impressive, and you'll be wowed respectively by the perfect inclusion of wasabi, and the ludricrous crush-ability of the other! Service was warm and enthusiastic, and these guys understand the little touches that keep their name on people's lips: the popcorn was a nice surprise, and the complementary mini desserts were such an indulgent conclusion to everything. Cannot recommend this place enough!

I absolutely love this place! I have been to Shelter on a few occasions now and have been blown away every time. The cocktail menu here is beyond impressive. Our bartender was super informative and obviously passionate about her craft. We tried a few of the items off of the food menu and everything was incredible. The atmosphere here is so surreal. Such a great place for dates!

The atmosphere here was amazing! The cocktails were delicious, must try white noise and okame! Staffs are super friendly! And the décor- OMG!

One of my very favourite cocktails bars in Calgary! Shelter serves up a wicked selection of drinks and their bartending staff are always eager to help guide your selections if you don’t know where to start! The interior space is a must see, mixing edgy art with moody design details and the most impressive lighting installation I’ve seen in Calgary!

Atmosphere is A+ Love that some of the booths make you sit beside each other rather than across (perfect for date night!) Drinks were tasty and food was light and refreshing. The variety of servers throughout the night was a bit different, but our waters were always topped up :) Only tiny complaint was the house lighting... Throughout the night it would change randomly from brighter to darker and vice versa which I found a bit odd. Overall a great place for a date or girls night out✨
