Do yourself a favour and avoid this doctor, he'll make you wait for weeks just to see you send you away after few minutes. I shouldn't have asked my GP to send me here. And the administration is a nightmare

Dr.Shawn was the paediatrician of my son for 11 years now,going all thru the experience we've been thru with him and his staff are all excellent,very professional and understanding,and very prompt to schedules,but above most is the way he cares and devotion the help,8years ago when my son started to have those vomiting and getting paler,also my son had an asthma so referral was made for further consultation/diagnosis and treatment start right away in Sick Kids Hospital for 5 years every 2weeks-month-3months,one time it was Good Friday my son had an attack we call him and ask us to come into there house and check it and even call/ask Sick Kids Hospital to open the pharmacy and give us medication,were very grateful for that accommodating us still, even though it was his daughter engagement party later on that day.His very open to opinions and willing to refer for another consultation if were in doubt.He help us in school, when my son start schooling, dealing with teachers complained informing us that our son might had ADD,which I brought out to him and said to me" Don't you know I am Specialist with ADD/ADHD and pointing his Diploma on the other room",said let me deal with them give my number and ask them to call me or I will call them myself if I don't hear anything from them.There's a lot more to say but thinking made it too long now,as per my son kept on saying he's the best and coolest Doctor,we love him most too and very grateful for being there for my son all the time.Kept up and spread to others your good deeds and excellent professionalism. Don't retire yet,for your patients still need you.Thank you so much.

Every time I call for an apt for my son we get in within 2-3 days of that call. The pediatrition is a bit old school but as long as you know your stuff going into the apt, it’s very smooth sailing and he’s a nice guy to deal with. Never had an issue, even when we don’t agree on certain things.

I was referred to Dr. David Shawn through my family Doctor. After many tests over a few visits, Dr. Shawn was able to diagnose my grandson. With the right medication, education and an abundance of sound advice, my grandson's behavior has improved by leaps and bounds. Dr. David Shawn was referred by our pediatrician Dr. J. Telch for my nephew as an case of ADHA Autistic kid over 4 years ago. At that time my nephew struggled a lot with behavior changes by his ADHD medication and maybe environment. Through all these years Dr. Shawn was able to work close to his case and concentrates on his medications, behavior, communication directly with Him and family, and follow up all the time with his progress at school, home and public location; Therefore with his highly professional skills, experience, patience and care he managed to bring my nephew’s scale of behavior self-confidence and a proper medication from 4 or 5 to 1 or 2. We strongly recommended this special skilled Dr. to everyone! He just not made my nephew’s life easy but also his family and school. For ever thanks to Dr. David Shawn who is an angle! Extremely rude and a disrespectful dictator. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED. Very arrogant, very slow, will hand write everything very very slowly, can't hear properly I think because of his age, gets extremely angry if you ask a question. Every question he will turn into a long argument. Will never clearly answer simple questions, will keep you in the dark. His best answer is I don't know. Will book you for 5 to 6 sessions at the minimum and even after those sessions, he will book you for another 7 to 8 sessions. He has no plan. Will just keep repeating the same things in every session, waste time, 1 hour session will go on for more than 2 hours. will make you sit and read his own senseless book, watch videos in his office (via an old dvd player). He just wants more and more sessions to get money from the government. As a Pediatrician he has an arrogant attitude even towards the kids. He gets angry on the kid for petty things, he asked us to sit quite and observe the kid and then his staff crushed my kids fingers in the door and kept blaming the kid. In a matter of few sessions, he created so much toxic environment that we decided never to return to him. There are much much better pediatricians available e.g. via Scarborough Health Network who are 1000 times better than this arrogant slow snail.

Dr. Shawn was the first doctor to diagnose our son with ASD. I was and still am thankful for the diagnosis but his not his approach. He was condescending and his process involved assessing what parents were doing wrong, rather than coaching and giving support. Each time we met I left his office feeling bad about myself as a parent. He is very forgetful and arrogant and I was afraid to ask him questions. I truly hope this review helps other families to know that there are other options. The doctor we see now is much more thorough and supportive.
