Shapes Fitness Portage

Never go to shapes, they will literally steal from your bank account!!!!! I had been warned about them by so many people beforehand too. I reported them to BBB and will be calling the consumer protection office with the government about them as per BBB’s direction. They do not honour contracts at all. They charged me recently even though I gave a month’s notice of me cancelling my account in October and the government declared lock down in November, so they don’t have the right to charge me almost half a year later! What a violation! They said I would either have to mail it out in writing or come in with an appointment via Schedulicity but schedulicity would not let you book appointments to come in! Not only that but I have in writing that they would do a complimentary hold before, yet still charged me! It’s ridiculous that they charge for holds. Awesome hot yoga a never does and I would highly recommend them. They’re good, kind and honest people and it’s very clean. Shapes also never cleaned their equipment before covid- most notably the group fitness class equipment. If patrons did clean it, they would use the same dirty rag as everyone else. A staff member told me that they only cleaned the hot yoga floor twice a week ? when I complained that it smelled of stinky feet. Awesome hot yoga cleans their floors after every class! People drip sweat all over during hot yoga. Shapes toilet paper is also atrocious and not even 1 ply, another thing they cheap out on. It’s really too bad about shapes bc I enjoyed the staff and clients and instructors and classes, but I will not let people steal from me. They have no integrity. Their Zumba instructors do virtual classes on their own and I recommend to seek them out there as well as instructors of other classes. Some work at other yoga studios and gyms or through the leisure guide as well.

I've been a member of shapes fitness club for many years. I like the staff & fitness classes. there isn't enough machines at this location. they have hot yoga classes st least couple of times a day.

Such kind and friendly staff members! Kathleen was so thorough and encouraging, I’m so excited about my new membership! I’ve already been 3 times and have nothing but positive things to say :)

Love being a member at Shapes. Have been a member for close to 3 years. The group fitness classes are awesome and I find the quality of the fitness instructors to be amazing! I believe there is something for everyone here - keep trying the different classes until you find your fav. The members also have the option of doing some classes from home watching a live stream of classes. Really cool and offers another excellent degree of flexibility. The Hot Yoga classes are great and are only a couple of extra dollars on your monthly membership fee which is well worth it in my opinion. I see some negative comments on the cancellation policy from other reviews and would encourage everyone to do their homework prior to becoming a member and know what you’re responsibilities are regarding cancellations. My experience has always been top notch at Shapes - Westwood! Deff a great place to work on your health and fitness!

Brittany at the Westwood location was very helpful! Great gym with everything I could need to reach my goals and stay motivated!

The manager was the one who signed me up and went through everything she was so extremely nice and helpful and she made me feel like an individual human not just another account I’m pretty happy to be joining this gym

Staff are friendly. Hot restorative yoga class was good but instructor was not watchful of students struggling with poses. Recumbent bicyclye does not work and staff were unaware it was broken.

Great facilities, with friendly fun staff. I especially enjoy the hot yoga classes and hope they increase the scheduled amount of classes with the opening changes plan in progress. I miss being able to do 2 classes on one evening :) fingers crossed!
