Sure, I waited from 8:30am to 12pm for my EI application in the Service Canada but.... I did get the job done. The security guard's personality aside, it was a breeze and I was able to get things done! Hats off to all. I'm not upset at all at you, guard. You're just doing your job! :)

Passport application done. Came in around 7:45 with people already lining up. I finished everthing at 9:45. If you are applying for passport and it is non urgent you need to line up on first floor. If you will apply for urgent passport go to third floor. Overall the staff are accomodating and fast.

Went there to get my SIN number at 10 AM, and got it by 4 PM. I was the last person to get it, and everyone behind me (around 50 people) had to go back home. Literally waited 6 hours to get a printed paper which took 5 mins to do. Service is very slow with 3 or 4 staffs working at a very slow pace. Absolutely shameless service you can ever get. Please apply online if you can. I would never recommend anyone to go here for their SIN number. Since I was a new resident in Canada, I didn’t know that you can apply online. Don’t make the same mistake.

The wait line to speak to a service agent is ridiculous. By 8:30 am, the line was already so long and only one person had went into the office to speak with a receptionist. The security officer makes you stand at least 2 metres apart and hand sanitize when Ontario and other provinces has gradually lifted public health measures. One of the security officers yells and treats you like you are some kind of animal waiting in line and asks unrelated questions. This security officer is clearly not qualified to work at this location. The transit and hospitals are filled with people not having to social distance so I am confused as to why all these rules are taking place and services are being delayed. There must be a better way for people to access these services. Very disappointing.

Went to there for passport application in March. When I was lining up security guard said to me that if you have everything ready you mail your application to passport office it is fast than hand in in service Canada. I followed instructions and mailed my documents. Since then I couldn’t hear anything from passport office. After a month, I worry about my documents if they lost. Sometimes the security guards gave wrong information. Don’t listen to them. Always confirm with authorities. It is a very bad experience to me.

Do everything you can online, avoid coming in person if possible. Because you might be waiting 5 hours and not get in. Their capacity is half due to COVID. They're saying they can process 12 people per hour but that's not accurate. Get an appointment if applicable. The SIN processing line is different than the main line. The passport office is upstairs and they take appointments. For other drop off things, the drop off box is at the front of the line, you can skip the line and just drop off but it won't be processed the same day.

My wife and I went in to Service Canada at the Joseph Sheppard building on Yonge street for Biometrics, having booked a prior appointment through the system. The staff were very courteous and helpful. The gentleman at the security cabin near the entrance guided us on how to get to the Passports section where the Biometrics booth was located. When we got to the passports section on level 3, the gentleman handling security at the Passport section was most helpful and personally guided us past the walk-ins queue directly to the biometrics booth number 17. But a very special thank you to a most kind and understanding gentleman at the Biometrics booth 17, who patiently took us through the biometrics, despite my very challenging fingerprinting situation. He took the effort of going through the whole process twice, just for me, in an effort to get it right. Most appreciated! It is people such as these who make your day brighter, by just being helpful and supportive. Thank you!

There is certainly a long line, so you should be ready to wake up early if you want to save a bit of time. The doors open at 7am, but the office opens at 8:30am, and passport pick-up is open from 9-4pm. Like others have mentioned, urgent requests (aka travel within 25 business days) are handled on the 3rd floor. You need proof of travel for urgent requests. Also on the 3rd floor are transfer requests, and if you applied earlier and your application needs to be found. You will be separated into two areas once you are allowed into the building. Non-urgent passport requests can be processed on the first floor, or by mail but in-person seems more reliable. Passport pick up is also in a separate line. I had an urgent request, so I went to the 3rd floor. I arrived around 5:45am (about 15-20 people were already in front of me), got to the first desk after they opened at 8:50am, was given a number and directed to another room, where they called out numbers. I was out by 9:30am. Overall all staff were friendly, and the security guards were patient and helpful as they answered the same questions over and over again by those in line. Tips: Bring a chair, stool, pillow or something to sit on as you wait, and get there early! The line was much worse when I left. Good luck!
