Absolutely horrible company, their guards don't know anything about the law or managing the property they're supposed to be securing. There was an individual trespassing onto the condo property, where I am an owner of a unit, and would take pictures of cars parked in the visitors' lot. Security was notified, but their response was for the residents to call the police if we see that individual again. He's trespassed and done that same thing FOUR times, with other residents' cars having their pictures taken and recorded, and the residents notifying the security. I had just come back at 5:30am from the hospital and decided to ask the security guard at the gatehouse about what the response to the trespasser was, because my car was one of the vehicles that man was taking a picture of, the security guard kept responding with "I don't know, it's not my job, it's the security before me, I don't know anything about this and you can call the cops". When I asked him for his name and license number he refused to give me either of them, then slammed the gatehouse window shut. When I used my key fob to unlock the gate and go in, he then approached me and said that I shouldn't even be parking there because I am either homeless, a drug dealer, or both. This is after using MY OWN key to enter. If he had half a brain cell he could have looked down at the computer screen in front of him and see the fob was registered (if it wasn't the gate wouldn't have opened). I then called the security company and told them about the incident but no one called me back and no one came to speak with that ridiculous and brainless security guard. Icing on the cake? The guard keeps falling asleep at the gatehouse, in front of visitors, and failing to properly screen people going into the property that houses 3 condo buildings. So this is the behavior, "professionalism", and whatever titles Securitas likes to say they are able to provide. Horrible company and I wouldn't suggest having them as your security providers or working with them.

I worked for Securitas Canada - Toronto Mobile from Jun 2010 to Apr 2020, in my 10 years of experience, I seen a good company turning out to be my toxic employer. Most employees from guards to dispatchers are poorly trained, underpaid and treated as slaves in the company. Less workers and more supervisors to look over the shoulders - make most workers unhappy and miserable. Always high turnover of employees and clients, expect to work more than expected so negotiate the pay in advance. I was often asked to lie on the reports as everything is ok when I was not even given enough time to write a detailed report for clients. Use for short term experience but best to avoid making long term relationship with the employer. Unionized but managers are anti-union and double headed, not worthy of trust. Do not make friends, always take notes of everything. Importantly, when you need employer reference, ask the manager/supervisor to put that in writing. I was fired for filing health and safety report in the beginning of the pandemic but my record of employment issued as I quit. Do not expect ministry of labour to rescue, those days are long gone.
