About Us
Searchmont Resort is a premiere ranked, regional training and recreation facility with high-quality mountain terrain, amenities, events, and entertainment. We care about you, which is why we have a passionate and knowledgeable staff to provide you, your family and friends with quality service. We promote a healthy, active lifestyle by providing winter recreation for families, sports enthusiasts and competitive athletes of all ages.
Searchmont Resort is owned by Wisconsin Resorts Inc. which owns and manages four Michigan resorts - Pine Knob in Clarkston, Mt. Holly in Holly, Bittersweet in Otsego and Alpine Valley Ski Resort in White Lake as well as Alpine Valley in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
Wisconsin Resorts Inc. has been in the Skiing industry since 1958.
Mountain Information and Statistics
- Vertical: 703 feet / 214 metres. About a 7-minute lift ride. High enough to get in a good run, not so high that you get a nosebleed.
- Slopes: 26 runs - 10 of which are a KM or longer. Enough variety to keep you busy, not so much that you lose your kids.
- Carvable Area: 100 amazing acres of natural, rolling terrain. It's why we're considered the best in the MidWest!. We have Bush trail & glades for the adventurous souls.
- Terrain Park: Multiple Areas / Table Tops / Grind Rails / Ramps / Barrels. Dedicated snow for busting out, cruising, & catching air.
- Terrain Difficulty: 20% Advanced; 50% Intermediate; 30% Beginner. There is a trail with your name on it!
- Snowfall: 132" (336 cm) annual average of real snow over the last 10 years. 90% terrain coverage with snow-making. What does this mean for you? We get large lake effect snowfall that makes for exceptional riding conditions.
- Lifts: 3 triple lifts, 1 quad lift and 2 belts. And rarely any more than a few minutes wait time to get on. In fact, it's best to hold any conversations until you get the safety bar down.
- Nordic: Available for skating & classic cross-country skiing. Variety of intensity & lots of beautiful scenery

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the best places in the Midwest to ski, as 700 feet of elevation, consistently good snow off of Lake Superior and no crowds or lift lines. That being said, it needs to be run better. Today there were great conditions on a Saturday and only two lifts open, before one broke (no place I have been in North America has more lift issues than Searchmont). So the majority of the day only one lift running, then the resort simply closes for the next day, with no regard for those who have spent many hours to travel here for the weekend. How can you hope to entice people to travel here with this type of management and poor service? Our group leaves disappointed and unlikely to return.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We spent new years eve day at the hills. All of the staff was lovely. The safety patrol noticed we were a bit green and checked in with us making sure all was good. We will definitely be back, we need the practice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My friend and I loved it here! We always ski at the massive mountain resorts in the Rockies of Alberta and BC, so we weren't expecting much coming here, but we were pleasantly surprised! Due to recent snow fall, the snow conditions were actually the best we have seen for quite some time. The runs were great, and we loved the tree skiing. Even with only 1 chair open, it wasn't too busy, and there was still a good variety of terrain. They also have a pretty nice terrain park set up with some really jumps and other features. The lodge and cafeteria are nice as well. I highly recommend giving Searchmont a shot!
