The tellers here are great but as a bank, it's not. I had a blank debit memo charge pull $115 from my bank account which I did not approve. It's been two weeks now and I STILL have no answers as to where my money has gone. I have called every financial advisor at this bank 3 times now and have never got an answer. I've called their help line multiple times, with no results either! I just want my money back but their sticky fingers are obviously reluctant to give it back. This could be construed as a mistake but couple this with the fact that this bank insists on charging you a fee to have an account the second you have no money - really leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth. I've switched banks and I will be steering family and friends away from scotia as well.

I have never experienced such poor customer service and the biggest run around to just try and use my line of credit at a good rate 1.9 they advertised. Hours of wasted time!

When I call the bank I would like to reach the bank I am calling, I suggest that it goes back to this style of service, two calls in and then it goes to a call center that cannot help me. So she will contact the bank for me, I was just wanting a quick answer to a question, she told me she could give me the number to the bank which I already had, so I called back to see if there was an option to contact someone at the bank and it the selection was the call center. Talk about beat around the bush, so I picked the call center again and now its a 15 min wait... Can we not interfere with the phones so we can actually talk to the bank we are dealing with or try to deal with.

This branch has no idea what they are doing. They need training again, again and again. Only the front staff is helpful, and they are trying to help. But the management including Shawn and Michael are a confused lot and need to be sent for training. Not only impolite, they are incompetent at their job.

Had a wonderful experience opening my accounts. Scotiabank app is best banking app I've seen so far. Roberta was extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

The Maple Ridge branch is the worst branch of Scotia Bank. The manager, Michael has no idea what he is doing and what he is supposed to do. The branch members are polite, but the branch manager does now know how to speak to customers, help customers. The only thing he said to me during the conversation is Please speak to the Office of the President for any complaints when I did not have a complaint. I hope Michael is relieved from his duties and asked to understand a teller's job before making decisions.

I can’t think of a more inept corporation than Scotiabank. My CC needed activation, went in to do this, the first teller couldn’t help because her computer system crashed and she couldn’t reboot the system. The second teller tried to activate it but failed. I only found out after getting home. I tried to call the number in the back of the card but needed to wait 45 minutes. I waited a week and went in and cancelled all my accounts. I will never do business with Scotiabank again.

The staff are polite but extremely disjointed. One problem is trying to reach this branch directly. Calls are intercepted by a general call center that relays your message on your behalf. This is inefficient and wastes customers time. The branch may not be busy but, as a result, you could be on hold for over 45 minutes. Another problem is that staff do not always respond to emails. You could reply to an email from an associate with questions, but not receive a response. This has resulted in me personally visiting the branch multiple times, unnecessarily. If you are setting up a deposit account, it can take over an hour. Another observation is that communication is poor between managers/asst managers & customer associates. You will want to ensure your intentions and expectations are clear before committing to an appointment so you aren't wasting your time on up-sells and other products you didn't intend on using. In the end, I wish this was just a one-time occurrence but after experiencing multiple problems at this branch, we've decided to stop interacting with this branch and Scotiabank in general. I do not recommend.
