Terrible experience banking with Ryan Butterworth and the Branch Manager at Hatley Shopping Centre in Colwood BC. We were provided a terrible experience. We have had our mortgage with Scotia for more than 5 years and decided to open an account with Ryan. His lack of detail and misinformation was significant. Asked to have the Branch Manager call us 3 times, not once did she make an effort to call. Ryan misinformed us on our LOC and chequing accounts. Scotia, your lack of training is significant and we will be taking our business elsewhere when our mortgage renews!

The worst experience I've ever had in a bank in my entire life. We don't bank at this branch. We'd never even heard of it. But when I ordered supplemental credit cards, one card came to my house, and the other never did (although I received the PIN for it), until weeks later I got a call from someone who only identified herself as Janis from Hatley Park saying they had my card. She mumbled the name of the branch and left no call-back number. So my husband wasted time on a Saturday going to our branch to get my card only to learn it was at this unknown branch, which was closing imminently at 4:00. I spent 10 minutes trying to call Janis back through the national line, but it is literally not possible. I kept saying, "Please just connect me with the branch," but the rep was only allowed to try to call them on my behalf--and, although it was still 10 to 4:00, nobody answered the phone. On Monday, I went to Hatley Park to get my card, and OH, MY GOD. I was treated with such blatant contempt by Assistant Manager Travis Robertson that I finally said politely, "Don't be snippy with me," at which he attempted to BULLY ME into submission. Only after I asked to speak with his manager did he discover he is capable of behaving politely to customers. Even then, when he finally brought me my card he was unable to explain how a sealed envelope with my address on it had been randomly sent to his branch. He said sometimes it just happens. I guess that's how Scotiabank operates. I got my card and got out of there, but I was traumatized. My husband wrote to the President's office, and a woman called me. At first she apologized profusely, but the conversation degenerated into her telling me at exhaustive length that I should only bank at my own branch (she had no explanation for how I could accomplish that if Scotiabank makes mistakes like this) and, although I was polite and respectful to her the whole time, that Scotiabank expects customers to show THEM respect. She insisted adamantly that I tell her "very specifically, be very specific" what I expected from Scotiabank. I had expected the President to simply follow up and deal with it appropriately. But since she insisted, I said I wanted Travis Robertson to be fired, as I am so traumatized that I now couldn't walk into a branch where I might cross paths with him. Certainly, if he'd been my employee (I run my own business in the service industry) I'd have fired him. But I understood that Scotiabank must have processes, so I at least expected him to be disciplined and told that if they receive one more complaint of bullying he would lose his job. She said she'd look into it and call me "in a few days." I asked her to please email me rather than call. She waited the full 10 days and then called yesterday, but when I emailed asking her to email me about it, she didn't reply. So the 10 business days have passed, and Scotiabank has not resolved the issue. I did not get the impression they were ever particularly interested in doing so. We have banked at many banks throughout our lives, including holding five mortgages. We have NEVER been subjected to anything even remotely like bullying. We are frankly shocked and horrified that Travis Robertson is still employed. Scotiabank has made it abundantly clear that they only care about our money, not about us. We're taking our money to RBC, which has very high reviews, including 5.0 at our local branch. We both wish we'd gone to them in the first place.

Scotiabank is the worst experience. Funds are held, no one is answering phone calls in a timely fashion... And he's had his account for at least a year. This treatment has been reported to the (BC) WestShore Chamber of Commerce. Please don't bank with them; they have caused nothing but grief for my family.

I was very disappointed at this bank. I was a new comer and Scotiabank had a plan for us. I applied for it and I was supposed to get $100, however, the person who consulted me did not know about the rule well. A manager was out of office at that time. We have heard that a consultant would give me a call about that and did not happen anything for 4 or 5 months. And we made an appointment with them again and there was different person. He did not understand what I wanted and he did not tell me that I can not cash back and he let me change a plan. My husband applied for free credit card system ( i forgot what it called) and it was trial for one year. The consultant was supposed to give us a call after a year to let us remind of cancelling or the reviews. He never called and we got charged $100. Tellers are nice there, but people who work there for consultation does not have enough knowledge. Even he told me 'who does read the form to sign' when I changed the plan. They are not professional at all. We will change the Esqumalt brunch which my husband used to go. They are very nice and have professional attitudes.

the staff particularly kept referring to bank policy and guidelines that do not allow them to help customers. I needed a simple letter stating my savings account balance over last 6 months as required by IRCC. But the staff had a hard time producing the same because the β€œbank does not do that”. However they had issued a similar letter to one of my colleagues last year. Later that afternoon I went to another soctiabank branch, they issued the letter within 15 minutes.

Wouldn't get back to me to regarding refinancing with scotia bank, wouldn't transfer the mortgage file to another scotia bank, zero help from the mortgage brokers. When someone did get ahold of they told me to contact someone else.... Pushed me to go to another bank. Charges an arm and a leg for penalties, terrible service.

never experienced a major bank have such horrible customer service. Even the bank manager seemed to only care what would benefit and make scotiabank money not what fit best interest for the customer. I used to like Scotiabank but this branch has ruined it for us and has now lost our business.

The senior financial advisor has less knowledge than a school going kid. He is rude, incompetent and uses phrases like use your common sense to complex questions on credit limit because he doesn't k ow anything about that. I advise the bank to train advisors to be competent enough to learn to talk to people first and learn basic banking. He doesn't even know how the credit system works here and he is at a senior position wow. That expalins the lack of manpower in Victoria
