Had a claim on an RV. Offered us about 50% of retail value. We said it's too low and provided multiple examples of pricing. They then send 1 example of a different model and say their evaluation was based of of that.

I just had a horrible experience with a Claim through Saskatchewan Mutual. We have several properties insured with them and unfortunately we had a small electrical fire in the master bathroom fan that shorted out and burst into flames causing approximately 2000 worth of damage. Saskatchewan Mutual assigned the claim to a Calgary based company called ClaimsPro who are anything but professional. One the claim was reported, they responded to the scene quick enough and had the contractors quote and booked for the job only to lose the file, cancel the contractors and somehow lose all our contact information until we started complaining. Scott Burgess was the adjuster on this claim and finally after 30 days is offering me $600 to go away. We are not contractors and we spend over 8000 per year in premiums with Saskatchewan Mutual and certainly expected and deserve better customer service that what is represented here. Shame on you. Yes there is no doubt they have attractive premiums but I am not sure it is worth the crappy customer service. All I know is that I am shopping for a different company on renewal.

This company is a joke, with fake reviews trying to boost their rating, stay far away from this company. The rates increase every single year, and the service is far from acceptable. From twisting your words to lying on the phone and trying to claim they were not lying when you call them out, all aspects of this business scream shop elsewhere. They do not accept β€œfreak of nature” claims at all and you’ll be pulling your hair out wishing you insured your home with another business. Telling me to take things up with the manufacture as it’s their problem and not the insurance companies problem from something installed 29 years ago. DO YOUR SELF A FAVOUR AND KEEP SHOPPING, don’t find these reviews when you finally need this company to do something for you, THEY WONT!!!

Worst insurance company. I have had a claim open and unresolved since Jan 2019. When I first made the claim they were quick to respond and sent an adjuster company called ClaimsPro to come assess. After the initial assessment there was no contact, I had to arrange repair services myself and repeatedly email my adjuster from ClaimsPro to ask about the status of my claim. I’ve done all the leg work that the adjuster should have been doing and now both SMI and the ClaimsPro adjuster are not returning my emails or phone calls about when my claim will be resolved and not answering my questions. I will be switching companies when it is renewal time. Stay away from this company.

Almost (7) months have passed,. Sloppy job by adjuster, not all damage marked on repair scope on initial estimate. Not responsive in communication. Only 1 phone call from adjuster to date. Gives out information to Contractor that should be only between SMI and the Insured. Takes the word of Contractor that the work is completed, issues a cheque without Policy Holders approval. Repairs still not complete, and no settlement. Negligent and unprofessional Company, even with all the phone calls right up the levels of protocol even to the President of Company.

This place is the epitome of terrible customer service. This review wouldn't let me pick zero stars, but that is all they deserve. Our rep Jay Hala has zero idea of how to deal with a customer. Zero communication, changing his mind mid way through a claim, contradicting himself on 4 different occasions, as well as at least twice was caught in a lie and would not come clean. We went months without even a phone call back. He brought in "his people" to do the restoration part, we didn't even receive all of our items back. We were put out of our house for 6 weeks, and received zero per diem for food at all, as well, we provided original receipts for items damaged in the fire and he still used "his people" to give a phoney low quote on replacement so they didn't have to pay us out as much. Just brutal from start to finish. Look anywhere else if you need to have insurance, SMI definitely doesn't have it figured out.

Avoid this company like Covid. Our newly renovated home was vandalized and ALL the copper pipes were stollen. Our adjuster said they won’t cover the claim and even fought with us on the phone. We have paid this company thousands of dollars over the years and for them to not cover the cost of the needed repairs is a slap in the face. We are not well off people and we can not afford this. Our home is not in livable condition right now. Being the victim of a crime is devastating in itself, but it is absolutely gut wrenching when you are the victim of a crime and you find out that the insurance intended to protect you in situations like this is Worthless. I don’t know what our family will do. I’m sure an agent from SMI will chime in on my review and leave their same scripted, generic, BS reply that they leave on all their negative reviews. This insurance company is scamming people of their premiums and should be investigated.
