Thought we could have a picnic here with the kids turned into a fun mudding trip. Didnt end up getting out bugs were swarming our truck. Dont go down the road with a car... definitely should use a truck very bumpy and narrow.

Would give 5 stars if trails had signage and the drive in were maintained. Looks like no one had been on them for weeks. Signage is extremely important for travelers. Didn't really see anything just walked through fur woods

Great hike close to Nipigon, providing fantastic views from the cliffs overlooking Ruby lake. Good spot to see Bald Eagles, and Falcons that nest along the cliffs.

One of the best views, I just love this place. Not recommended for young children or dogs, the drop is high and there are crevasses. But a nice short hike with a gorgeous reward and perfect spot for rest and meditation on a nice day.

A breathtaking view from cliffs high above Ruby Lake will open up to you at the end of this hike. Follow the road until you reach a fork, disembark and follow the right-hand path. The walk will take you 30-40 minutes over fairly even terrain. Just make sure you bring plenty of water and bug spray, the insects in these parts are merciless.

It's unfortunate that this place is not well marked off the road, we had to rely on Google maps to even find the parking lot for the trail head, zoomed well in to see the marked tail head on the Google map. That being sad, it's well worth the bumpy road to get here, there were some puddles but our little KIA could handle the drive in without too much difficulty. The hike itself to the look out is about 5 kms round trip along an ATV trail for most of it. Just about 300 metres from the actual lookout, you have to veer off the ATV trail and take a side trail marked with trail markers on a birch tree (see photo). it's a little bit more rugged on the side trail but nothing too major. The view at the lookout is spectacular especially on a clear day that we were lucky enough to have. We sat on the rocks and enjoyed the quiet peaceful scenery for a good while before hiking back to the car.

A beautiful, well groomed trail for about 2km and then a small donkey trail for about 500m with a STUNNING view at the end! Enjoyed a delicious picnic and walked alongside the cliffs for about 0.5-1km to the south end of Ruby Lake and walked back. 10/10 recommend! ? Tip to get there: about a 10 min drive past the Nipigon turn off. Turn right at the road with the bent over stop sign. Road is narrow and rough though, so make sure you drive a bigger vehicle! Drive to the end of the road and the trail will be on the right with a steady incline to start. The left side of the fork is a private road and an insect research tent.
