About Rotary Park

Mayor BridalHis Worship, Mayor Al Bridal, was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan before living in Moose Jaw prior to his teenaged years. Al completed high school in Toronto, Ontario, after which he moved back to Saskatchewan, where he worked in construction for several years, followed by two years with the Canadian Military, training as a pilot at CFB Moose Jaw.

Mayor Bridal then worked for SaskPower for five years where he became a Journeyman Lineman before starting his own construction company, Bridal Builders, here in Swift Current – a business he has successfully operated for 35 years.

Al has been an active member of Swift Current’s community since he moved here in 1980, having served:

  • Two terms on Swift Current City Council;
  • As a School Trustee of the Swift Current Public School Board #94 for six years;
  • As a School Trustee of the Chinook School Division for four years;
  • On the Board of Great Plains College for four years;
  • On the Board of Directors for Prairie Pioneer Independent Housing for four years; and
  • Approximately 20 years, splitting time as a Coach, Board Member and Referee with the Swift Current Soccer Association.

Al has been married to his wife, Deb, for ten years. He has three children, three stepchildren, two granddaughters and eight grandsons.

Mayor Bridal is proud to have this opportunity to represent the citizens of Swift Current, and he looks forward to working alongside Swift Current City Council over the next three years in service to the community.

This is a small, but good park. It is quite sunny yet sheltered from the wind. There is a small area shaded by trees and a gazebo with one picnic table. The park sign indicates it is designed for six to twelve year olds, but our group ranged from 2 to 5 and all had a good time and we felt fairly safe with the little ones on the play equipment. If you have a more adventurous climber it may be a bit high for the younger ages. The play surface is gravel with is not ideal for 2 to 3 year olds who like to throw rocks. If your kid listens to you this wouldn't be an issue. It was an issue for me ? The picnic area is quite far from the play structure and there is no other seating. The play structure is small but varied: 3 slides, a climbing wall, a ladder, and a couple other climbing devices. Monkey bars and one of those overhead spinning wheels. One regular swing and one baby swing. A two person coil spring see saw that is quite neat. This park features a splash pad, however it was a cool day when we visited in mid May so the water was not yet turned on. Our favourite thing about this park is the full sun on cooler days. Our least favourite thing is the lack of seating.

We enjoy this park and the spray park is super fun as well. No public bathroom but we stay and play and move on when someone needs the bathroom!
