Great location for launching and different types of boating. Staff came over offering if I needed guidance. Very friendly.

I visited the Beveridges lock station as part of my project to see all of the Rideau Canal lock stations. This lock station is located out-of-the-way just off highway #18 near Port Elmsley. The lock station consists of tow sets of locks, Upper and Lower Beveridges Locks. I’m not sure if this lock station is “technically” part of the Rideau Canal since it is a bypass of rapids on the Tay River to pass into the Lower Rideau Lake. Regardless, it is worth visiting and like so many of the other lock stations, very tranquil and peaceful. Oh yea, say hello to the lock master’s tabby cat when you visit and ask the lock master to tell you the story about this cute feline.

Ian, Laura and the staff are superb..if you are in the area you need to stop in and witness the service they give. My wife and I just purchased a season pass because we love to boat/camp. Especially there. THX Ian and team.

This canal lock offers a nice spacious lawn area with picnic tables for boaters. There is a very good boat launch at the far end of the lock. A fee is charged for boat launch and parking. The beautiful landscape of this lock makes it a tranquil place for picnicking as there are big trees providing shaded areas.

Ian and the crew there make you feel at home and cater to all your needs. Incredible people who truly stand out and deserve recognition. This is our favourite lock on the system without a doubt! The paddle up the tay takes you right to Perth, all clearly marked. Be sure to stop at the Tay Marsh lookout for a nice view! Also accessible by land, but not as memorable I’m sure!

Great place to launch a boat with the ramp and also launch a canoe. Plenty of space for activities whether you're just hanging out or trying to do some serious fishing on lower Rideau lake.
