★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I read all those reviews before my hearing. I thought I had all the pictures, receipts and invoices, I should be fine. It was so disappointing that RTDRS officer just made decision at tenant's favour without asking for any proof from them. It is a big shame that we waste tax on paying salary to those kind of people!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The judges definitely are biased towards tenants. We dealt with K. Barringer on 2 occasions with the same tenant.
Each time she sided with the tenant.
The tenant lied about the condition of the carpet and even though we were able to show photos of stains and no stains were shown on the move in Inspection Report she took the tenants side. The tenant didn't have any proof to back up what he the was saying about the carpet but because he said it was already stained she believed him.
My advice for landlord's is to record the move in and move inspection.
If you have a dispute I wouldn't take it to the Residential tenancy dispute resolution service. Landlord's are not treated fairly in my opinion.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ From a tenant's point of view: RTDRS is a total sham. The judge ruled the opposite of what the RTDRS officers had told me and I had spoken to 5 different officers to ensure that I had a strong case before filing a claim. I also think the judge had not read what I had put in my application, even though it was his job to do so. Moral of the story: get everything in writing with the landlords and don't trust them.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have had to deal with both their Calgary and Edmonton offices and both are equally useless. They brazenly disregard the law and favour their donors and people they pity and have no shame whatsoever. Avoid.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Never use RTDRS. They don't care about the tennants, but landlords more. When you make a phone call to ask questions, some of the receptions are quite rude! My landlord didnt provide me heat for 3 months in winter. And didn't give me back my full security deposit on time. I hired a legal assistance to represent me. The hearing officer completely ignored the rights of having a representative speak my behalf even though I was told I was allowed by the front desk and student legal assistance. I had something I forget to say at the end and wouldn't even let me say it towards the end, assuming it had something to do with my security deposit. The officer also ignore that fact that it was illegal for a landlord not to give me my security deposit on time. I applied for abatement of not having heat for 3 months and officer came up with only providing me 15% of one months rent of abatement which was $105. Where did she come up with 15%? It wasnt a fair hearing. And I pretty much got nothing out of it accept a wasted if my time, effort with evidence and money for $105 accept I got my security deposit back. RTDRS in Calgary is a complete joke! And I would advise people to avoid rtdrs, but try QB.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am a landlord and find them to apply the legislation fairly. They tend to be more lenient on the tenant's side. This tendency is due to the fact that most tenants that have judgements against them have little in terms of resources. Though I might not agree all the time, I believe on balance it is fair based on the power imbalance.

That Is why there are over 100,000 seniors In Calgary who have been In the same home, bought It for the owners In rent payments and are now being completely abused by their landlords with no support. These seniors barely even make It to the court step before being ripped apart by capitalists. I have one senior that shakes when her landlord comes around, because he terrorizes her, She Is almost 80. Calgary, your system Is not only disgusting, but your money does not Impress me one bit. I see you all chasing the dollar, like a retardation away from humanity.
It Is no wonder not a single one of you humans know what a human Is. You are all lost. ?
